Do you have any new or additional goals for your life for the next four months?
In four months’ time, my new goal for my life is to ensure that I plant more maize that will sustain both my family’s feeding and commercial aspects. One way that I will ensure that I do not struggle in provision of food for them is to ensure I do maize farming on large scale.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer.
The biggest difference in my daily life in the last four months is that I am currently doing subsistence farming on large scale courtesy of the amount that I get. When the transfers came, I channeled everything towards procuring farming inputs which include seeds, fertilizer and hired labor. Had it not for the starting capital that I got from the organization, I wouldn’t have begun this vital farming that is both commercially and domestically advantageous.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
In six months’ time, I expect to have bought a cow which should be a dairy one for one important reason – milk. I hope that once the cow has calved, I will be in a position to have plenty of milk both for family use and for sale. Selling would mean that my family would not be struggling with daily needs provision since we will be using the money we get from the sale of milk.

I have dedicated all my time on my farm I no longer do the hard jobs in the village like before. we have enough time with my family for bonding unlike before while the casual jobs could take all day long. How is your life currently different from how it was four months ago?
I am a very able young man in that I am able to buy cattle feeds for my dairy cow. I use some of the money I get to buy grass and molasses. The good feeding program ensures that I get the highest quality and quantity of milk from the project. This source of income is very much better than the menial jobs that I had to seek every day. As a result of the constant decent income from selling milk, my family is well fed. there is no single day that we have had to sleep hungry in the last four months.

The biggest difference in the last four months happened when I finally bought a dairy cow. I sold a heifer that I had and topped the money with the one I got from the four GiveDirectly transfers in buying a lactating cow. I had been saving money from the four-month transfers to buy it. From the dairy cow, I get about 4 liters per day that are sold and apart of it is used for domestic consumption. It is now a good source of income unlike when I had to rely on wages form menial jobs.

In the next six months, I expect my life to change because I will have two extra sources of income from the dairy farm and the poultry keeping that I am about to sart.
