Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
It was around 9 o'clock, I was in my house sweeping preparing for my daily activities. Being illiterate, my helper came to my house to enquire if I had received any message from GiveDirectly since most of the villagers had gotten their transfer. I handed over the phone to him who verified and notified me that I had received the transfer. I felt very happy for receiving my transfer since I was eagerly awaited waiting for it to build a new shelter since the one I had collapsed.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
Living in a decent and comfortable house with my family is the biggest difference in my daily life. I would have not achieved this without the aid. Previously, I was living in an open-roofed house after it was blown away by strong winds. I am currently happy for fulfilling my wish.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I spent KES 40,000 of my transfer to construct a decent and spacious shelter for my family. This is because the house that I had back then collapsed after being blown away by a strong wind. I had desired to build a new one but I lacked the finances. I also used KES 8000 to purchase 3 goats a future investment for my family. I had done livestock rearing earlier and I had enough experience raising them. In addition, I used KES 6000 to seek proper medical assistance for myself since I was sick. I thank GiveDirectly for the transfer.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving this money means good housing to me. Am living in a muddy leaking house which is hard to sleep during rain season. When I get money , I want to buy twenty pieces of iron sheets at a cost of sh.900 per piece and other materials so as to build a house .I will use the remaining amount to palaster my house and make it a permanent one.
What is the happiest part of your day?
My happiest Part is in the evening when my grand children come home from school and sing for me the songs they sing at school. In the morning after taking breakfast, I go to the shamba and take the whole day doing shamba work . I come home in the evening tired. So if my grand children start singing I feel happy and relieved in the evening.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
My biggest hardship is during rain season. I spend sleepless nights because my house is leaking. This sometimes makes my headache due to accumulated sleepless days. During short rains season on october and long rain seasons on May are my biggest harship period in life.
