How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My life is different than it would have been if I never received the transfer because I am now living in my own compound in a big spacious house which was not the case in the past. I used to live in a small house and did not have any homes of getting a better on. My children can also have all the meals because we have enough food in the house unlike in the past when we only had one meal a day.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
GiveDirectly does well by sending the transfers directly to the recipients without going through anyone else which helps in avoiding corruption issues as compared to the government's projects. In my opinion, GiveDirectly should spend more time educating people on how to start better long term projects so that the beneficiaries can have long term source of income.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I spent my second transfer on to build my own home. I had been living in my parents in law compound in a one-roomed house where my husband left me when he passed on. I am now a happy widow living in her own home and have enough space to rear my livestock. I also used my transfer to buy two sacks of maize since its a dry season and I am hopeful it will last till the next harvest. I am now happy my children will no longer go to bed hungry as they did in the past

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving this money means that I am going to be able to buy a piece of land and use the remaining balance to build a house in that land. Doing this will enable me to own my own home where I shall feel free to carryout my development activities without undue interference by my inlaws.
What is the happiest part of your day?
My happiest part of the day is usually in the afternoon when my little children are back from school and I get to talk to them this brings a lot of joy because while they are at school I remain at home with no one to talk to.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The biggest hardship I have faced was losing my husband after a long battle with cancer, this drained all the family savings and I therefore have to struggle with the little business to ensure that I feed and clothe the children.
