How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My life is different than it would have been if I never received the transfers in that I used to do small grocery business at the market. The amount of profit that I get from this business is so small and Cannot meet all the basic needs including paying school fees for my children. I used to walk up very early in the morning to go to market get the grocery. I could not get enough time to spend with my family members. Currently because I have cleared all the school fees for my children I no longer do much of this job rather devote much of my time on my farm for planning. My family now have enough food to eat and also sell the surplus to earn an income to meet other basic household needs. My children could be sent home to collect the school fees and this was affecting the performance. I am so happy because the performance has improved so much. Give directly helped me to over come this challenges. My business is also doing so well and Iam pretty sure that I will pay next term school fees.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion GiveDirectly does well by giving money to the poor in the community to build better houses and to pay school fees for children in various schools. I do not find anything that GiveDirectly did not do well.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I spend the money I received from GiveDirectly to buy heifer, goat, paid school fees for my child in secondary and primary and the rest of the money I used it to buy food and clothes for the family members.

Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
It was at 1.53pm when I was relaxing just after taking lunch and I saw the transsfer message and I was very excited. I was with my parents and siblings and when I told them that my transfer had arrived, they were excited as well and after a few minutes, they also received theirs. It was merry that followed for the rest of that afternoon.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
My son was able to go to school without me worrying where to get money from like before when they could go to school and be sent back home to get school fees. The money I could use for school fees I will use to expand my business.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I paid school fees for my child who is in secondary school and bought him school uniform. I also bought food and clothes and iron sheets in order to build a house when I get the next transfer.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
It means I will buy a cow and boost my business.my family needs a stable source of income and I think when we purchase a dairy cow we will have milk to sell to our neighbors and even some for household use.
What is the happiest part of your day?
The happiest part of my day is at mid day when I am at the market selling vegetables, I feel so happy and encouraged when customers come to buy from my me because I know I will make a good profit of sh200 per day to feed my family at the end of the day
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The biggest hardship I have faced in my life is the time I was diagnosed with asmatic condition a few years ago. I was required to go for further check up at a sub county referral hospital but I could not raise fare and medical fee of sh10,000 that was needed. Ihad to stay home and take herbal medicine which is more cheaper.
