How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My goal is to improve my house roof from thatch to zinc and plaster the inside and the outside of my house with cement. The roof of my house is in a very bad condition. I hardly sleep when it is raining because of the leakage and my house is very cold. So this has really been my plan to improve my house. I am grateful to GiveDirectly for empowering me to accomplish this goal.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
GiveDirectly has done well by giving me money to change the conditions of my house. I never expected myself to have received such a plenty money. It is through GiveDirectly that I am able to improve the conditions of my house. Before, I had no where to get money from. I am no longer strong enough to work for money. So, I am very happy for receiving money directly from GD. As for things done unwell by GD, I have not seeing anything of such.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I spent my last transfer on the purchase of cement and paid carpenter to zinc the roof of my house. It is a four room house and I have not been able to improve its condition, due to the lack of money. So, I am very grateful to GiveDirectly for being here for me.

How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
I been planning to renovate my house that I am living in because it is not in a good condition. The old zinc on the roof is leaking so badly till during the rainy season I can not be comfortable with the condition of the house. The floor is also not plaster, there is dust all over the house. These things have caused me so much stress because I have no solution to them. When I receive my transfer, I bought cement to plaster my house and lay the floor. I also bought zinc to change the roof over my house for the comfort of me and my family.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
Old lady like me, where would I have taken the money to renovate my house? There is no means of income for me. Receiving this money from Givedirectly has brought lot of changes and joy into heart. If GiveDirectly is not doing anything well, I do not know about that but I know is that GiveDirectly has brought happiness into old age and I am very much thankful for that.

When I receive my transfer, I used it to buy cement to plaster my house and lay the floor. I also used some of the transfer to buy zinc to change the roof over my house to stop the leakages.

How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
After receiving my first payment from GiveDirectly, I decided to change the roof of my house from the old zinc roof to a new zinc roof. With this planned I than bought the first one bundle of zinc and keep waiting for the next transfer. However, with my second transfer I decided again to buy additional two bundles of zinc as an additional to the first one bundle so I can change the entire roof of my house.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my thinking GiveDirectly have done so well that we can't imagine, they are the reason we are happy today. The day GiveDirectly entered our town, we have so much missed feeling about them from the beginning. But they've proved beyond all our doubts that they came purposely to help improve our livelihood. For this reason, I have not seen anything wrong done by GiveDirectly.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
After receiving my second payment from GiveDirectly, With my goal of changing the entire roof of my house, I used a portion of the money to buy two additional bundles of zinc. Moreover, l used a portion of the money to hired a wood sawer to saw planks. Finally, the remaining money was spend on buying zinc nail. With this unique opportunity from GiveDirectly, I remain forever grateful.

Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
It was early during the morning hours when my transfer message came into my phone. I am not educated so, I asked a boy who is one of my sons in the community to read the message to me. When he read it, he explained to me that it was GiveDirectly cash transfer message. I became so much happy because I have never been able to see myself having such amount of money in my life since my birth. I have also been planning on how to change my house roof which is leaking so badly whenever it rains, but there is no way for me to do this due to poverty.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
The biggest difference in my life is that I am so happy. I have not been so happy in my life like the way I am. I will sleep under a decent roof and be happy to see my children and my daughter children also going to back to school.

The roof over my house is so very much old now, the zinc are all rotten. I have been planning long time ago to change the zinc of this my house and send my children to school and my daughter's children also. With this money from Givedirectly, I was able to accomplish my plans. My daughter is not working due to this reason, she is not able to help with her children's education because of her financial problems. With this money from Givedirectly, I will be able to achieve my dreams and secure the future of my children and grandchildren to get a better education and also live in a better house.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
If I am qualified to be apart of this program and I received any money from GiveDirectly I am going to renovate my house, secondly I am going to make my small business and if the money is much I am going to build another two rooms house because my children and grandchildren are many.
What is the happiest part of your day?
For the past six months nothing had ever brought me joy or happiness but when I saw givedirectly people coming to my town and talking about helping the poor families with money it really makes me happy because of my condition, I'm sick. I want to go to hospital and no money so when GiveDirectly gives me any money I am going to settle my problems.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
I have so many challenges but the most important one is money problem, I am not too well and no money to go to hospital and no money to buy food.
The little table market I was making first broke down and no money again to sell so that's my main challenge now.
