Do you have any new or additional goals for your life for the next four months?
In the next four months, I have a new goal to also venture into avocado farming. This also is a very lucrative source of income in our community. It started with some few members who obtained the seedlings some three years ago and currently they are harvesting many baskets that they directly sell to the buyers right in their farms.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer.
upon receiving the transfers from GiveDirectly, I have seen a lot of differences in my daily life. Among them are the improvements in what I had before while others are totally new. The biggest difference in my daily life when I look through the many differences is the improved farming both in operations and also in the output we are currently witnessing as a household. Foodstuff in plenty is what we are enjoying currently; something that has never happened since we last had a good harvest back in 2009 when maize production was still a viable crop to work with on our soil. Apart from subsistence farming, we have also made a step into commercial farming. From this month's transfer, I used part of it in making mango seedlings order from the county's Ministry of Agriculture. I have been watching farming programs in our home television and the mango farming seemed fit for small scale farmers of our kind. We are expecting to receivie the seedlings towards the end of the month and from that point, I will start a step by step preparation of my farms.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
Hopping that all will go well as planned, I expect to have planted both the mangoes and the avocado on my farm in the next four months. I am glad that the seedlings are affordable and within reach. We are grateful both to GiveDirectly and the county government for opening up such opportunities to the small scale farmers.
