How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
Before we received transfers, we could not afford what we needed especially oxen, we were left with no option other than hiring which was expensive. Our family is now better because we have acquired our own oxen for ploughing, goats, good clothes and utensils using the GiveDirectly transfer.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
GiveDirectly did well to handle me with customer care, they are not harsh on me during interviews both at enrollment and follow up.
There is nothing they have done bad.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I spent my second transfer for buying an ox and a goat at UGX 1,180,000, food, clothes, utensils, bed sheets. I paid school fees, a medical bill and took UGX 100,000 to support a church project.

Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
The mere fact that I was able to acquire my assets such as the bull and three goats is the biggest difference in my daily life. This is because having livestock is considered as part of wealth in my cultural community.
In addition to this, my lifestyle has changed as I am able to feed my family well, dress my family decently and see to it that my children are in school. Before getting this transfer, I always admired the people who had already benefited from GiveDirectly as I thought that all their financial problems were resolved yet I had to continue to do much and hard casual labor to just meet a few family demands.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
The moment I received my money, I felt so happy that God had really seen me through my financial troubles.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
I spent my first transfer Ugx 1100000 to buy some livestock such as a bull, and three goats.
I then used Ugx 200000 to pay fees for my children.
I then bought some house hold items such as food, clothes and utensils using the balance of the transfer.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
When I get this money, I will build a decent low cost ironsheets house. The house we are currently living in is grass thatched whereby grass needs replacing almost every year which is expensive. But with an ironsheets house, its does not necessitate replacement consecutively. I will also buy a cow that will produce milk for both commercial and domestic consumption. Money generated from this milk is what I will use to pay for our child's school fees.
What is the happiest part of your day?
The happiest part of my day is in the evening when all of the family members have returned from their work. This is the time we as family get together and share ideas.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The biggest hardship I have faced is lack of money to cater for the family's basic needs like education, madical care and feeding.
