How is your life currently different from how it was four months ago?
I have this small scale business which I have been running for the past year and so far the business has picked up so well. For the past four months, I have been using the transfers to boost my business by adding more goods which I then sell out to my clients and in return I make more profits.
Do you have any new or additional goals for your life for the next four months?
My new goal is to buy building materials which I will use to make renovations on my house. I have this house which we built sometime back but then the final touches on the house have always been such a challenge, but then I still believe that I will finish the final bit in the near future.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer.
The biggest difference for me I would say is that I was able to start my own business. I used to entirely rely on my husband for financial assistance but today I am financially independent, which is a good thing because we are able to pool resources together with my spouse and make life easier than it has been in the past.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
I have this plan of transforming my house from a temporary structure to a semi-permanent structure. All I need to do is to buy building materials such as cement, timber, and sand which will aide in that process.

How is your life currently different from how it was four months ago?
I have been able to buy three sheep which I now keep in my compound. What I am sure about the sheep project is that it can never fail because the animals will definitely give birth in the near future and the moment their population increases, it will be easy for me to sell out some of them and maybe use the cash to buy cows.
Do you have any new or additional goals for your life for the next four months?
I have a plan of expanding my business by buying more goods to sale so that my profit margins can also increase. The more the goods I will be selling, the higher the profits will be and the more money I will be generating. What I need to do is just remain focussed and keep working hard towards achieving my goals.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer.
I have opened a small scale business which will help me sustain my family into the future. I decided to go this direction because I felt I was becoming a bother to my husband by asking for cash from him every now and then, and most of the times a lot of arguments and disagreements emerged between us. However, things have changed a lot ever since I started receiving money from Give Directly because I now earn my own cash so I no longer have to be asking for financial help from my husband.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
I want to start a project of keeping chicken birds so that I can expand my income net. This is a project which can generate a lot of income for me in the future because for one, the birds take a very short period to grow and there is always a ready market. What I am trying to do is to widen my source of income so that I do not have to rely on only one source.

How is your life currently different from how it was four months ago?
My life is currently different from how it was four months ago. Initially, I could not afford to buy clothes or even food easily. I nearly felt into depression because I had a lot of responsibilities especially now that my children are at school, there are a lot of nitty grittys that are required. I entirely depend on my husband because I did not have a source of income. Today, I am a happy woman who is self-dependent because I can assist my husband in settling a few expenses. I also feel like I have attained some sort of financial freedom ever since I started receiving transfers from GiveDirectly.
Do you have any new or additional goals for your life for the next four months?
My new goal is to start a new business. From the profits of my restaurant business which I am currently running and the next four month's transfers, I greatly put me in a position of starting a second business probably running an Mpesa shop will be a good idea because there is no Mpesa shop which is nearer at the moment. I believe that I will get extra money from this business which will improve my life since I will be able to meet my goals
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer.
The biggest difference in my daily life in the last four months is that I am now self-dependent. I take care of my needs without asking for help from anyone. I can buy whatever I like unlike before where I was limited by the amount I got from casual jobs. Now, I am receiving transfers and I also get profits from the restaurant which I had started using Givedirectly's transfers.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
I expect my life to change in the next six months in that, I will have started a second business probably running an Mpesa shop. I know that when this business actualizes, I will be able to save the money that I will finally use to build a decent house since the current one is in a bad condition.
