Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
It was around 8 am in the morning. I remember it was a market day and i was on my way to the maize mill. I was very happy and i quickly went home to tell my husband.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
I now have food and i am now eating three times a day. This was something that was impossible because i did not harvest enough maize to afford such meals.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I was unable to harvest enough maize for home this year because i did not have fertilizer. A bag of fertilizer is very expensive and on my own without recieving a subsidy from the Government i cannot afford it. Because i do not have food i bought 8 bags of maize to keep as food for the coming months. I have saved my remaining money because i want to use it together with my second transfer to build myself a house.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
I am so grateful to be considered in this program. My plan is to build a house and start busines. I have not thought about the kind of business that I want since the program has come as a surprise
What is the happiest part of your day?
At night when am going to sleep.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
My household experiences hunger each and every year because the yield is always low due to lack of fertilizer.
