How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
The biggest difference in my life is that I no longer travel for long distance to fetch water for use at home and for livestock as we spend part of the transfers which we got to pay for water installation fee and buy water pipes which we used to connect water to our door step.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
I believe Give Directly did well by selecting our village and more so me to benefit from this project. We use to languish in poverty but now we are better off.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I received my transfers when my son was unwell and I spend part of it on his medication. I then bought a cow and some furniture. The remaining portion I spend on buying seven sacks of maize for consumption as we had no food.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
We have been having water shortage in our house yet my neighbour has pipped water from county government. We therefore intent to use money from GiveDirectly to buy pipes and connect water to our compound as well for domestic use.
What is the happiest part of your day?
The happiest part of my day is in the morning after waking up healthy and happy. Seeing my family happy and healthy too makes me jovial and ready to face the days activity.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
In the year 2010, our maize plantation was infested by armyworms which greatly reduced the yield yet farming has been our source of food and income. We normally pay School fees and other household expenses from the produce but now I have to work extra hard as a casual labourer in order to meet our daily needs and other expenses and that has been the biggest hardship I have faced in life.
