Do you have any new or additional goals for your life for the next four months?
My additional goals in the next four months are to procure farming inputs. I am planning to buy seeds, fertilizer, and even hire labour that will assist me in working on my farm. I also hope that once this goal is achieved, food shortage will be something of the past for me and my family.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer.
The biggest differences in my daily life for the past four months is that, I am decent. Earlier on when I did not have money from GiveDirectly, I would wear clothes that were torn and dirty. The biggest challenge that I had was that I had no money to buy new ones or even second-hand clothes. I only prioritized food for the family because this is a basic necessity that we can’t do without. I also note that nowadays I have the ability to seek medical attention where necessary and therefore I feel my health is no longer at stake since I am able to treat myself.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
In six months' time, I expect to have grown food crops and will be at the peak of harvesting. I hope that I will have plenty of food purposely for my family's livelihoods. Enough harvests would mean that I can even sell some so that I can pay school fees for my children who are currently in school.

How is your life currently different from how it was four months ago?
My life is currently different from how it was four months ago since I have been able to adopt good farming practices. Before my crops would be infested by pests and the produce was usually low in terms of quality and quantity. It glad since it was a different case this year since apart from topdressing my crops, I was able to apply pesticides on time. Due to this, I am hopeful that my produce will be of good quality and I will be able to get high quantity this year and this will ensure food security for my family.
Do you have any new or additional goals for your life for the next four months?
The additional goal in my life for the next months is to save some money to use in paying school fees for my son who will be joining a tertiary institution this year. It has always been my prayer to see all of my children become successful in life and God has answered my prayer as my last born son will be joining university this year under government sponsorship.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer.
The biggest difference in my daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer in that I have been able to build a chicken coop. Due to this, destruction of our crops in the garden has reduced and at the moment, my wife can now sell vegetables to my neighbors hence earning an income through it unlike before when our chicken would destroy them.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
I expect my life to change in the next six months in that my son will have joined university so that he can further his studies. With this, I will be a fulfilled parent knowing that he is soon going to achieve his life dreams. My only concentration will be to ensure that my family feeds well and that my son at school has enough money to use in buying food.

How is your life currently different from how it was four months ago?
I can now afford most of my family's basic needs such as food and clothes. Even though I could meet this before,I sometimes had to really struggle to do so. I now afford these needs without stressing myself on where I can get casual jobs to do to earn money. I am leading a happier family and nothing could make me more proud than this.
Do you have any new or additional goals for your life for the next four months?
One of the additional goals that I have in the next four months is to erect a ceiling in our house.We have a big house but temperatures rise much higher during the day. Erecting a ceiling will make our house much more habitable than it is now. I also have plans of making sure that I save enough money in preparation to meet my daughters needs as she joins college in the next few months. This, I plan to do by saving enough money from my dairy business and the monthly transfers that I get from GiveDirectly to be able to meet the said costs.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer.
For a long time, our compound looked so disorganized and ugly. It was also difficult for us to contain the family livestock within the compound as we did not have a perimeter fence. Over the last four months, I have been able to pool resources together and fenced our compound. It now looks nice and a good place to call home. Milk production for us has also gone up following the increase in quantity and quality of animal feeds that we use. I have been able to make more money from my dairy business that has consequently seen me meet my family's needs with much ease. This has been the biggest difference in my daily life in the last four months.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
In the In the next six months my daughter shall have joined university and this means that I will have more responsibilities bestowed on me. I plan to save more to meet the needs of my daughter in terms of school fees and other school needs that may arise as she joins campus.

Do you have any new goals that you didn't have before receiving the transfer?
I have new goals of joining a Sacco, buy shares and take a loan which I will use to start a business which will help me repay the loan and also use part of the profit I will get to upgrade my life.
How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My life currently is different since by the end of the day I will have bought tea seedlings which I could not have them had I not received the transfers. This will increase the size of my farm under tea plantation hence will increase the bonus I get at the end of the year.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
I expect my life to change in the next six months since I will be in a Sacco and whenever I am short of cash to use I can easily take a loan. My life will also be different in that I will not have to do more casual work in order to get money.

My daily life has changed since my family will no longer miss one of their meals due to lack of money to buy them.

What are you planning to spend your transfer on?
I will spend my tranfer on purchasing a plot around a centre whereby i can start a business i.e opening a shop.I will also pay my son's school fees who is in form four in a certain secondary school.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The biggest hardship i have faced in life is when i was given a retirement letter from the company i was working for.This was hard because i was not expecting to retire such early since i had not accomplish my plans in life eg my children had not completed school and i had not build a good house for my family.Despite the situation i went through i had no otherwise but just to obey the rules of the company.This was hard since i had not accepted the situation,but at last i accepted and have moved on with my life.
What is the happiest part of your day?
The happiest part of my day is in the evening when am through with my daily chores eg looking after my cattle,i go home relax take some coffee and have a chat with my family.This makes me happy because i have a ample time and talk about how the day has been.
What is the achievement you are proudest of?
The achievement that am proudest of is that i have educated my children they have gone to school and now am paying school fees for my last born and a proud parent since i have played my role successfully.I hope they will live a better life than mine because the first three are in colleges and universities.
