What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
Currently, my biggest challenge is the lack of capital, which is preventing me from rebuilding my house destroyed by floods and from starting agricultural ventures. Relying on casual labor in others' farms earns me approximately KES 300, which is inadequate for my family's basic needs. Every day, I pray for the means to cultivate crops like maize and tomatoes on our one-acre farm. I hope to use the proceeds to invest in a goat, securing our future needs.
What is the happiest part of your day?
In the past six months, I've faced both joyous and heartbreaking moments. The saddest was when floods ravaged my home, leaving me homeless and now residing in a makeshift structure on my mother's compound. Despite losing everything, I'm grateful to have survived the floods and for our recovery. Although we're starting anew, I remain optimistic about overcoming life's hurdles. I believe that despite these challenges, better days are ahead.
What do you plan to do with the cash transfer?
Receiving this money will be a turning point for me, allowing me to embark on rebuilding my life with renewed hope. I am eager to invest in agriculture, starting with planting maize on my family's one-acre farm. The proceeds from the harvest will not only secure us against future natural calamities but also pave the way for expanding our food security efforts by acquiring goats and a cow. These investments are crucial steps towards a more stable future. Additionally, with careful planning, I aim to construct a safer and more resilient home, shielding my family from the dangers posed by rainy seasons. This opportunity fills me with determination and optimism for brighter days ahead.
