Do you have any new or additional goals for your life for the next four months?
In the next four-month, I plan to open a mpesa shop. This will help boost the shop business. I have scouted around and I have realized that there are few mpesa shops. This is a gap in the market.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer.
The biggest difference is that I have been able to stock my shop and the revenue margins have increased. Initially, the sales made from the shop were all used up with household expenditure. This left the shop with zero potential for growth. I am looking forward to the shop expanding and my income will increase.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
In the next six months, I hope to have opened a mpesa shop and that my shop will have slightly expanded. This means that my income will have increased as well. My children can enjoy good meals and school fees will no longer be a challenge to them.

Do you have any new or additional goals for your life for the next four months?
My new goal is to open a poultry business. It is always safer not to depend on one source of income alone. So I thought to have a poultry farm as a backup plan. I believe in this idea because the demand for chicken in this region is a very high hence ready market. Chicken is easy to manage so long as the right precautions are followed. I am also positive towards poultry business because they multiply very fast so long as there is ready food for them always. The ready market and their ability to multiply faster with minimum supervision are what motivates me to do this project.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer.
Since I started receiving transfers from Give Directly, I have been able to boost my cereal business which is the greatest difference in my daily life in the last four months, preceding the current transfer. I bought more stock and even add more varieties of grains for my cereal business since this is the major source of my livelihood. My business is more stable now that I have attracted more customers by buying varieties of grains in large quantities unlike before. I am able to pump more money from my monthly transfers to it, thus I have noticed an increase in daily sales. I am now able to cater for family responsibilities such as paying school fees and buying food with a lot of ease. I am thanking Give Directly for having helped me stabilize my business . I am empowered economically and my family as a whole our living standard has improved, which is the greatest difference I have in my life. I treasuer my family and I always wish to work hard to provide the best for them.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
In the next six months, I expect to have started poultry business as a source of an additional source of income. I have school-going children and I need to pay their fees on time. Having an additional source of income will enable me to pay fees for my children without straining. I am a mother and I would always be happy seeing my children dress neatly, thus through this business I would use some of the profit to buy clothes for my children and buy food too. I am very positive and I would be an example in my community when it comes to the outcome of this transfer.

How is your life currently different from how it was four months ago?
My husband and I have been able to pay school fees for our kids in good time which leaves the kids with adequate time to concentrate on their studies as opposed to being sent away from school due to lack of fees payment, which eventually results in poor performance.
Do you have any new or additional goals for your life for the next four months?
Since the time I started running my business I have realized that I stand a big chance of making a living through starting another business such as M-Pesa business which will generate more profits for me.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer.
The biggest difference is that I have a huge stock of goods in my shop which means that I will be able to make more profits from the shop because the more I sale the more profits I will be able to make.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
I have an idea of starting up another business where I will be buying second-hand clothes in bulk at wholesale prices and then later re-selling them at retail prices. Through such kind of a business, I should be able to make an extra coin from my business every single month.

How is your life currently different from how it was four months ago?
With business running, life has become at least manageable as I am able to meet most of my family needs and do not depend solely on my peasant farmer husband who does not earn much. My children can also have three meals in a day. Something that was so rare then. Were it not for GiveDirectly, these are things I would still be struggling to achieve in my household.
Do you have any new or additional goals for your life for the next four months?
My additional goal is to start a mobile banking business. With this, I am will be self-reliant and also support my husband who is just a peasant farmer. We will also be able to share responsibilities which back then he carried on his own with the small income he got from selling our farm produce which sometimes due to bad weather, we could not harvest much.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer.
The biggest difference in my daily life is that my children can now have steady meals all throughout the term without staying hungry like before. Then, I had to prepare the food from home instead of paying in school like the other pupils do. When I do not have the money to pay, they go hungry. This was so disappointing and disheartening. I am glad about this money, I am able to pay for them too at the right time and have the meals with the other pupils in school.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
In the next six months, I expect the mobile banking business to be up and running. This means a more comfortable life for my children, less burden to my husband and more money to save for the future.
