Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
The biggest difference in my life is the fact that I now have a dairy cow. I had initially built a zero-grazing unit in preparation to buy a better hybrid cow. My hope is to improve the proceeds from livestock farming from the sale of milk. I am also happy that I will be living in a clean and decent house. I feel that our lifestyle as a family has improved, thanks to Give Directly.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I woke up just like any other morning and on checking my phone, there was a message notification showing that I had received some transfer from Give Directly. I was elated about the news and immediately went into putting my plans to action.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
I spent the first transfer received from Give Directly to build a new semi-permanent house. I have been living in a grass-thatched hut for a while and having lost my spouse awhile ago, my children are now the ones doing the maintenance. Maintaining a mud house is quite labor-intensive hence my decision to build an improved house. I used the rest of the transfer to buy a dairy cow for rearing to add to the few that I currently have. I also updated my insurance after going awhile without remitting my monthly premiums. I also gave a tithe of the transfer to the church.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving this money will enable me to buy a chaff cutter that will help improve my cattle feeds which will in turn improve milk production hence more income to support my daily needs. The remaining part of the transfer will enable me to complete constructing my house.
What is the happiest part of your day?
My usual day entails waking up in the morning to feed my cattle and fetching water for them. This is the time i am always happy since it is the only time i feel busy and engaged to avoid thoughts that brings about the atmosphere of boredom and loneliness.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
At my old age, i could have wished to have someone to take care of me but since my wife passed away 2yrs ago, i feel lonely all the time and i have to depend on my children to take care of me. This is the hardship i am currently facing
