How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
Yes I have a new goal that I didn't have before receiving this. My new plan is to raise money to service the medical expense of my mother who suffering from mental illness.
I am the only person who can help her to get medical assistance. I used a portion of my second and third transfer to start her treatment. At first, we didn't know that it was actually possible to heal her through medical means. I only decided to give it a try and I've seen significant improvements in her mental health. I've Therefore set it as a goal to raise money so that she can complete her treatment.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
GiveDirectly does well in helping to make life better for poor people. Prior to the coming of GiveDirectly to Gomai Town, I could barely get enough food. I did casual labor daily to make ends meet. As a nursing baby mother, this wasn't easy for me. When I received the first GiveDirectly money, everything changed. Me and my daughter now have our basic needs.
GD does everything well. I do not see anything that GD does not do well.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I am keeping my most recent transfer to so that the I can add the 4th transfer to it to build my 1 bedroom house with porch. I currently live in an family house. The house is literally crumbling. The roof is damaged thereby causing the house to leak. I plan to use my 3rd and 4th transfers to build a house for my family.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
If I am successful to receive the cash transfer, I will buy zinc and build my own house.
The we are in now is for people. So I have made plan long time to build my own house but I have not had money to do that. Although like I said to you, I am engaged into coal production and cassava farm making to sell and be able to earn money to implement my plan. However, the money realised from those activities cannot be enough to keep some for the project.
The coal production is a very difficult job and it requires more energy to do. Because of that, I most time credit money from my customer to be able to hire man power, buy food and other things to do the production. So when I sell the coal and deduct the money I credited, nothing can be left for saving. So , receiving the money promised will be a huge breakthrough for me to realise my dream.
What is the happiest part of your day?
Yes, last Tuesday I was very happy. I can remember that day I was completely out of food and did not know or never has the means of getting food. But few minutes later, my friend asked me to go with her on her farm. We went and she gave me rice and also 300 LD that help me to buy food for me and my family for two days.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The major challenge for me here is how to raise money to implement my different plans.
I considered money as a major challenge because almost everything here requires you to have money before doing or implementing them.
And here, besides coal and cassava patch making to sell and get money, there is no other activities here to earn money from.
The coal production too got lot of people here involve into it. Because of that, the price have dropped. So, it has made money earning very difficult
