How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My life is different now that it was. I really wanted a house. I now have peace of mind knowing I will be able to achieve my dream. I am happier. I used to own businesses years ago. Then they all crashed and I lost everything. This feels like a second chance at being able to start over.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
Give Directly does not do any wrong. The organization has really helped us. It is good that they came directly to the people and not through the government or through the chiefs. There would not be as many people assisted as there are now had they done that.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I plan to spend my transfer on building a house.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
I have lived in this house together with my niece for about a year now. I moved from where I was living due to infertile soil and divorce. This money will help us build a comfortable house with my niece and it will also be a motivation for me to marry. The other money will be used to buy beddings and mattress for me and my niece. We also lack good pots and other utensils so this money will help us a lot in that aspect too.
What is the happiest part of your day?
My happiest part of my days is when I go to my casual job. I do maintenance work of the government road for an extra income and this makes me happy knowing am making the roads safe for my relatives and members of the community.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
My biggest hardship is poor harvest each season for the two years I have been farming on this land.It seems there is a need for fertilizer since most of us here can not afford fertilizer. Hence, we struggle to find money and buy the much needed fertiizer.
