I am a grade 8 leaver and since I got married two years ago I have been yearning to get a skill which would enable me to look for self employment but since my husband who is a motorcycle rider could not afford to take me to college. Upon receiving this money, I plan to enrol in a tailoring school where I will pursue a two year course. I will spend 48000 KES in this training. After completion, I will save some amount to buy a tailoring machine which I believe will go along way in being a source of income for my family of two. I will also spend 5000 KES to buy two goats and the rest of the money will be spent on food for the family.
What is the happiest part of your day?
It was during last month when I got healed from malaria after a period of two months. Despite going to the nearest dispensary the illness persisted. I followed all the doctor's advices and finally the condition became better. I felt very happy because I started attending my normal duties of farming.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
I currently have no work and fending for my family has never been easy considering that my husband does a casual labour which he only earns peanuts. Lack of food is a big challenge as we rarely take three meals a day. I can not afford taking my family members to better hospitals for treatments once they fell sick because of poverty.
