How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My life is different than how it would have been because, I have been able to pay school fees for my children, bought new school uniforms for them to replace the old ones that were worn out, and also stocked adequate foodstuff so they as a household we do not have to go without food. This is a change for the previous status where circumstances forced us to lack food and our children were constantly home because of fees.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
The person behind GD thought well to come up with this project. I think it is impactful and beneficial to most of the people who have received the cash. Living standards have improved and many have been empowered to reach their goals. I sincerely cannot record any bad intention all I see is goodness.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
When I received my first transfers, I had started purchasing a piece of land where I can settle my house. So I spent a portion of the second transfer and reduced the debt. I also bought goats to rear, paid school fees for my children and saved the remaining amount for future use.

Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
The biggest difference in my daily life is how GiveDirectly has opened up the success of my family's future and mine too. I have been able to buy three goats which I believe shall increase in number after a while. This will allow me to meet some of my goals such as paying school fees for my children through selling the young ones. I believe that quality education is the key to my children's success which I will always strive to give them. GiveDirectly is a prayer answered because it has helped me support my mission using the transfer that I received.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
The moment I received my money I felt like I had changed to some-else in a difference world of honor . The joy was too much that I could not explain and it glowed on my face at the mention of GiveDirectly. This is because in my whole life I have never got a lump -sum benefit as this from the non - profitable organisations which have ever worked in my community like GiveDirectly .
What did you spend your first transfer on?
I spent 25,000 KES of my first transfer to settle some of the arrears that are pending on the piece of land that we bought way back on deposit which we had put up our homestead in it. I appreciate the fact that the money which has remained is not that much after settling some. I bought three goats and fixed a steel door on my house . I used the remaining amount for Christmas cerebration festival .

What does receiving this money mean to you?
My desire has been to complete the payment of our plot that we are living at the moment. Currently, we owe the owner an amount of $250. Receiving this money means a home that I can call my mine since I have been living a life of worries that anytime I can be evacuated. I will spend the remaining amount on purchasing 8 goats at 30 dollars each, which will act as my longterm investment.
What is the happiest part of your day?
Afternoon is the hippiest part of the day because I am always feeling joy when I am working, something that will at least give me cash to put food on the table.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
Inadequate financial resources to fulfill my dream of owning a piece of land has been my biggest challenge in my life. We were forced to rent a plot in order to build a home but currently we are likely to be shifted out. This has worried me a lot and I am always pissed off.
