How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My life is better now in that, I live a happy and joyful life because through GD transfers I managed to put pillars in my house and I also bought timber that I will use for roofing. I used to have cattle back in the day but I sold all to educate my children. When I received my second transfer, I bought some cattle so that I can remember GD for changing my life. I also managed to buy household items like (mattresses, bed sheets and a blanket) since the ones I previously used were too old and I was always shamed whenever I received visitors because I didn't have descent bedding's to lay for them. Prior to receiving GD transfers, Life was so difficult in that I did a lot of casual labor to sustain the well being of my family since I'm a widow and my spouse left me with six children to raise on my own.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion, GD did an amazing job that I'm still wondering how I managed to receive this unconditional cash because I did not apply or work for it. This money has help me buy construction materials like cement, iron sheets and two calves. I was so stranded on how to complete my house because I ran short of money. I thank GD so much though I have not complete my house but I managed to acquire the above mentioned materials. In addition to that, GD sensitized us on how to deal and be careful with scammers who could con money from us and vulnerable recipients. Everything went on well.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I spent my transfer on purchasing timber for roofing my house. I started building this house way back before GD took an initiative of transferring cash to their beneficiaries. The house is too big and it's in a standstill. The other amount of money I used it for buying two calves and pay labor plus food.

Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I felt so happy at that point in time for receiving my first transfer from Give Directly because it seemed a dream but it was reality. I Thanked God, GD staff and the Donors for sending such a wonderful assistance. I was living in a quite bad condition of starving with hunger and I never had means to get money and GD from nowhere delivers me from that condition and my standards of living have improved.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
I had bought a plot of land sometime back and started construction but I failed a long the way due to luck of finances. when I received my transfer I resumed its construction which costed me ugx 750000. I also bought household items like mattress, bed and utensils at ugx 240000 and Sent for ugx 200000 to my daughter who is pursuing a nursing course for her Tuition. Since feeding is quite difficult I decided to stock food in the house and I spent ugx 128000. I also bought Turkeys at ugx 100000 and saved ugx 182000 for paying workers building the house.
