How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My life is different in that, I have everything I wished to do in case resources should be available. I invested in business of selling shoes. I buy them from Nairobi and sell them in the local center. Out of my business I am sure of sustaining my family, since business is paying well.Truly God has opened for me a way of getting my daily bread through GiveDirectly.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
The organization has given us opportunity and tool to fight poverty. The area has improved economically in terms of income per capita. Farming, livestock keeping, poultry keeping, business, education and health were center of people's expenditures. The organization should work closely with the local administrative bodies to reduce cases of fraud as witnessed in most cases between helpers/or trustee of recipients.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I bought wall unit, Bed( Double Deck), Sofa Set and School fees. My children lacked sleeping items, and as a parent, it is my responsibility to take care of my them in everything. I also paid school fees for my children and there were items in my house that needed proper care, and wall unit could serve the purpose.

I used part of the money to purchase a 10000L water tank which I will use for water vending business during the dry season. I also bought other household items such as a cupboard and utensils.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving this money means that I will be able to buy three bags of cement for renovating my house and the remaining amount will be spent on expanding my business of selling liquid soap.

The happiest part of my day is in the morning when I go to Awasi market to sell liquid soap and I manage to record good sales. This makes me happy as I am able to support my family financially on that day.

The biggest hardship I face in my life is that my income is very low and my husband does not have a stable job hence getting money for food is a challenge.
