What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
My recent money was spent on school fees and building materials.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
Givedirectly has done well by transforming my life. I was sleeping in a house with thatch roof. With the coming of GD, I was able to pay for bundles of zinc and cartoons of nails. This will help me re roof my house. With the help of GD, I was able to pay my daughter's tuition who has just reached the age for school. I have also planned to purchase a piece of land in Monrovia for future use. However, I want to be geeatful to GD for these achievement.
How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
Yes, my new goals are: to build my house in the village, register my daughter for school and buy land in Monrovia.

What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I sent my daughter's school fees in Monrovia. I bought one mattress and I bought cement to plaster my room. I also bought 2 bags of rice and other groceries. I saved some of my money to add to my next transfer; my dream is to buy land in Monrovia and build house for my children.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
The money has brought great change in my life because I am not grieving anymore for food. Finding food for my children to eat was a big worry for me. Now I am relaxed because Givedirectly has brought peace to my everyday life.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I was already at the network place making call when the message alert came on my phone. I called my husband to read the message and luckily it was Givedirectly money. My husband and I felt so happy and we couldn't stop celebrating.

What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The greatest challenge I am faced with right now is securing food for my family. We survive solely on the little income we receive through our coal business which is not enough to meet our basic needs. I am also unable to send my son to school due to the lack of funds even though he is of school going age.
What is the happiest part of your day?
My spouse and I had a conflict which almost separated us in July; with the help of the community elders, this conflict was resolved. This brought so much joy to me because if we had separated, life would have become very difficult for me as a single mother with two kids.
What does receiving this money mean to you?
My first son has reached the age of going to school, but due to the lack of funds to pay his tuition, he has not been enrolled into any school. Receiving this unconditional cash transfer means that my dream of sending him to school will finally come true. I will also use any extra funds left to change the roof of my house from thatch to zinc.
