I feel honored that out of my seven children one of them have gotten the privileged to enroll in a secondary school. I feel very humbled that my son is now in school with all the requirements and in time. Before, relying on peasant farming with a small income was very strenuous to meet my family's need. Therefore, my first five children had to dropout of school because of lack of school fees and started working on casual jobs which would be available and for the girls got married at a tender age which was a disappointment on me unfortunately I didn't have no option. At the end of last year when my son was doing his final primary examinations, I did not know if I will manage to raise the money to take him to secondary school. I am thankful to GD who came to my rescue and I used the money to buy school requirements in time without any debt.

GiveDirectly did well in giving money and not giving a specific item. This is because everyone has their own needs and giving money helped everyone meet their area of needs. On the other hand, there is nothing GD did not do well.

I spent my second transfer to purchase three goats. I paid school fees and bought school supplies for my two children who are in primary and secondary school respectively . I bought building materials such iron sheets which has facilitated the construction of my new house. I am glad that now I enjoy the comfort of my house because of its spacious room ,therefore , I no longer shy away to invite visitors unlike before when I was staying in a one roomed house. I also bought food for my family's consumption with the remaining amount.

Owning the goats has made my life to be so different so far. I settled in buying goats because, first, they can live in any climatic condition and they reproduce twice a year and they mature faster compared to other domestic animals. I believe this will make me wealthier in a short period of time. I have been longing to rear them for a long period of time but I could not afford it because they were costly and my daily income was too low. The majority have started reproducing and when the offsprings mature and multiply, I will exchange them for a dairy cow. I believe this is going to happen in a few months to come. From the benefits I will be getting I will be able to pay school fees for my children without straining and some other basic needs.

It was around 6 am when my son broke the news to me that my first transfers had been sent. I was so happy and even celebrated with my family. I then started thinking about how I could utilize the money.

I spent a larger portion of my first transfer on buying some goats to rear and as living assets to me. This has been my long-time dream of owning them but I could not afford to buy any considering my lowly financial status. I am glad that I now have assets that I can lean on in case of financial trouble. In addition to this, I also paid school fees for my children to avoid being sent home for fees. I also did some shopping for them by purchasing some new school uniforms to replace the old and worn-out uniforms they have been using. I saved some little cash for my son who will be joining high school next year to prepare adequately for his shopping. I was also operating a small shop that had been also a source of income but it came to collapse I did not have enough capital to run it. Thus when I received this transfer, I took a portion of it to bring my business into life again by purchasing adequate stock to serve my customers. I am expecting to get good returns from this shop. I spent the little amount that had remained to buy some foodstuffs for my family.
