My life is different than how it would have been had I not received the transfer. This is because I have been able to acquire a dairy cow. In my own opinion, GiveDirectly does well by uplifting people from where they are and I do not see anything that they do not do well.

When I received my transfer, I spent KES 24,000 to purchase a dairy cow. I settled on this so that when it reproduces, I will be able to save the money I would otherwise use in buying milk. I am now glad since I will be able to use KES 1800 that I would have used in milk on something else. Also, I spent around KES 7000 on poultry by buying some chicken. Using the remaining amount, I bought four sacks of maize, some food stuffs and clothes for my family.

I was at work when I heard my phone ringing notifying me of an incoming message. I decided to check it and to my surprise, it was an M-Pesa SMS saying that I had received the 55000/= that we had been promised by GiveDirectly. I was so happy to see this and I immediately called my wife to inform her of the great news. She was so happy to hear this and she kept saying thank you to God. I also thanked God for this because I now knew that I was going to be able to fulfill what I had always planned.

The chickens will be of great help to me because I will be able to get eggs that I can sell and use the money to buy household items such as sugar, soap, etc. The four bags of maize that I bought will enable us to have something to eat for a while and hence I will not be having worries about what my family is to eat for some time. I was also able to buy a few chairs to add to the ones that were there in the house. The house hence looks good and our guests will hence be having enough seats to sit on when they visit us. My children are also happy with the transfer because they were able to get new clothes for themselves.

The transfer from GiveDirectly has helped me in a big way that I had never imagined. I was able to build another kitchen that is roofed with iron sheets. I was also able to buy ten chickens, four bags of maize, some chairs, and clothes for my children. I have been having another kitchen that is roofed with grass. I have used it for quite some time and the challenge with this kitchen is that of getting grass for roofing it. The grass for roofing is no longer available easily and the people have been scrambling for them. The house has also been at times leaking when it rains. Due to the above challenges, I have been having that desire to build another one but due to lack of money, I have not been in a position to do so. The salary that I am getting from the job that I do has only been enough to buy food and pay school fees for our children. I, therefore, thank GiveDirectly a lot because they enabled me to achieve what I have always wanted to do.
