Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
The biggest impact is that I have recovered my piece of farm land after clearing a hefty loan. I lost my husband 3 years ago and I secured a loan which I could not finance immediately. I was at the verge of losing that piece of land. More so we had no farm land and this led to shortage of food at home. I recall at one time , we had no food at home, we had to always beg for food support from close relatives. I am very delighted that I have offloaded that debt off my shoulders, thanks to the GiveDirectly transfers.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I received a message late at night but I could not read it. However, I overheard people the next day talking about the cash transfers. So I called upon my son to read the message for me. My heart was filled with joy because I was living in fear of losing my farm land.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
I spent the first cash transfer to pay off a debt worth UGX 1300000 and UGX 100000 was spent on clothes. I also paid tutition worth UGX 300000 for my son's driving course.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving this money means I can pay off the loan that I collected for treating my late spouse.
What is the happiest part of your day?
The happiest part of my day is in the afternoon.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The biggest hardship I have faced is having limited land to cultivate crops. All the acres of land for my late husband were handed to the money lender as collateral for the loan we collected. But my parents gave me only one acre where I plant a few crops to sustain my family.
