Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
It was in the morning around 7 am, I was preparing to go for a casual work of farming. Then I heard a notification message and I immediately told the news to my husband that Givedirectly sent the money. We said to ourselves that we are going to change our lives from the poor life to a better life.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
We immensely thank Givedirectly for the financial support. It was our first time to receive a donation. We are now a happy family because we own a crop land and I was able to buy food for my family .
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
Most of the money was spent on buying a land of 300k, we are planning to plant sweet potatoes and cassava so that during the time of harvest we will sell the crops to the market.

What do you plan to do with the cash transfer?
The first thing we are planning is to renovate our house, we will cover it with sand and cement and it will cost $100. The renovation of the house is necessary as you have seen in our neighbours we are among the ones who live in muddy house and we are not proud of it. The other thing, we will buy a cow so that we will have manure to use in our agriculture activities for more production. The cow will cost $200. Moreover, we will have to buy land for agriculture as we have told you that we are in need of it and we think that it will cost $300. The rest of money will be spent on household items such as kitchen materials that will cost $30 and mattress that will cost $25 and buy some food stuffs at the market such as beans, Maize flour and cooking oil.
What is the happiest part of your day?
We normally have joy in our home when we have grown food crops and get production. Even if it's not enough but at least during that time we no longer go cultivating for others and our children have something to eat.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The main challenge we are facing is that we don't have enough land for agriculture and because of that when we grow food crops we don't produce enough, hence the insufficient food at home. It's a challenge because we don't have any other alternative means like salary job that gives us money so that we can buy food stuffs at the market. We often eat one meal per day like 4 days a week. You understand that it's not easy. The other challenge is that we don't have any livestocks being small or cattle so that we can get manure to use in our agriculture activities. When you have livestocks at least you have a support because when you have a emergency of needing money, you can sell it and get the money to resolve the problem but for our case we don't have any and that is where the big issue is.
