How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
I have always wanted to build a good house for myself. I have lived all my life in a mud house that has been leaking throughout the rainy season. The place I am currently having is in a horrible state. It is breaking down. Any strong wind that comes will surely bring it down. I have always wanted to build a good house, but my financial status has never been that good ever since.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
I am happy that give directly Can give us money directly into the recipient's phone and also allows us to spend the money on the most needs we feel we should attend to. That something I like because we are do not feel the pressure of spending the money on somebody'ssomebody's liking.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
When I got the money, I spent a considerable portion of it on building a good house. I am currently building a three-bedroomed house with a veranda. This house will be very spacious for my family and me. To make the place, I bought iron sheets, stones, cement, iron rods, and nails and paid off the mason who built the house. I also bought a few goats for myself. I also bought chairs, windows, and doors for my new home, which is made.

Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I vividly remember It was around 7 am when I was in the house preparing to leave to the field to graze my cows. I heard my neighbour celebrating after they received their transfer. Being illustrate, I called my helper to confirm on my phone if I had received the tranfer like others. I was overwhelmed with joy when he finally confirmed that I had received my transfer.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
The biggest difference in my daily life is that I am currently owning a decent and specious shelter for my family. I am positive that I will be able to reside in a comfortable house once the construction is done something that will restore the confidence that I had lost for many years.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I spent to purchase building materials including 22 iron sheets, nails, building poles, treads, and paid KES 15,000 labour charges. This was for the construction of a decent shelter for my family since the one I had earlier was very small, one-roomed that was not enough to accommodate all our family members and our commodity. With the remaining amount, I am planning to use it to purchase water to complete the construction by putting up the mad on the walls. I also used part of the remaining amount to acquire sufficient food for the family.
