How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
On December 12th last year, I married a stunning woman, and I was beyond happy. All of the objectives I had set for myself before marrying I had at least achieved but there were still some that I had not. Despite the fact that I have constructed more rooms for myself, I have not installed new doors, and I would like to do so as soon as I have enough money since the door is so old. I formerly worked at a gas station, but I lost my job due to the economic crisis the country is currently undergoing.I currently work as a farmer as I sell chicken and I am really planning to work hard to make a lot of profit so I can start Mpesa shop. I will also be selling food stuff in my shop.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
I am very grateful to GiveDirectly for giving me hope and restoring my faith in that good people still exist. The majority of my villagers have achieved the majority of the things they never dreamed they would because of what GiveDirectly has done for us. Thank you so much for the unconditional transfers that you have given us. We are really grateful for that.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
With the second transfer I received from GiveDirectly, I happily went and bought a cow at $240 and a bull at $150. This really made me so happy because I had no cow before and it really gave me confidence that my tomorrow will be bright. I wanted to buy cow and expand my house before I could find myself a beautiful wife and thanks to GiveDirectly I was able to achieve that. I had a small house that was made of wood and I thought that it was really necessary to expand it and add some extra rooms. I bought eighty strong woods to expand my house and each wood did cost $2 and I used a total of $120 to construct my house. The remaining amount of $10 I bought myself new clothes that made me look good and feel great.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving this money means I will be able to venture into business. I was once employed as a shop attendant and I liked the business. The little money i earned I was able to buy a cow and this motivated me to aspire to have my own business but due to lack of capital I have not been able to achieve it. So when I receive this transfer I will spend KES 30000 as capital for my Mpesa agent service. This business will be my source of income and I will be self employed.
What is the happiest part of your day?
Givedirectly could not have come at a better time than this, for very long time I have been wondering where I was going to get money to start a business but no any casual job could give me sufficient money. When I heard that Givedirectly was coming to my village it brought joy and happiness into my life since I knew my prayer has been answered.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The biggest challenge is financial constraints. I am passionate about doing business after I got experience from my previous employer but this has been futile due to lack of money. I do casual job in the near town as gas station attendant however my income is not sufficient to start the business
