How is your life currently different from how it was four months ago?
My life is currently different because I am hopeful for a good life in future. I earlier did not have such hope because of the cycle of casual work that seemed not to have an end. Now I can attend to my own work and this carries a sense of freedom for me.
Do you have any new or additional goals for your life for the next four months?
My new goal is to expand my farming. I intend to sell the harvest and plant more so as keep increasing the income.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer.
The biggest difference in my daily life is that I am hopeful for a better future. The crops that I planted using GiveDirectly funds will give us funds hence a perpetual income. Thank you for the funds. I had been struggling with casual work earning meagerly and inconsistently because at times work is not available. But now I am sure we will have more than enough from the harvest of beans that we planted.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
I expect to have financial freedom in the next six months. The farm work will give us consistent income. GiveDirectly funds gave us the muscle that we needed to start this income generating activity and we are grateful.

Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
The biggest difference in my life is the hope that I have for good changes in future. I have already planted my crops and I expect to have a bumper harvest and good sale from that. Once the calf grows and produces milk we will also have enough milk for consumption and sale. I have hope for a good future soon.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
My expectation is to see a good harvest from my farm. Beans take three months to harvest so I expect to have two harvests in six months. I expect to lease land and plant more in the second crop, that way I will increase the harvest quantity and get more income from their sale.
How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My life is currently different because I got some capital to farm. I had been planning to farm but couldn't due to lack of funds. I am happy and so grateful for the funds because now my crops are in the ground and I believe they will do well.
Do you have any new goals that you didn't have before receiving the transfer?
I have a new goal to start a business of buying and selling cereals. I plan to even get good stock and supply in nearby schools and generate a good income. I think it is a good business because the cereals do not expire unlike fresh products such as bulk milk without efficient handling and storage facilities - I do not the facility. Milk can spoil or fail to meet required standards and cause me losses unlike cereals in bulk which won't spoil yet have minimal storage and handling demands.

What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
Despite having undergraduate degree, I have never been successful getting a job since 2011, this really hurts me because I feel like I just wasted time and money in school. That's my biggest hardship.
What is the happiest part of your day?
The happiest part of my day is in the evening after I am done with farm work. This is when I can relax with my children.
What are you planning to spend your transfer on?
I am planning to use the first transfer to start a cereal business in Sotik Town. I will use the second transfer to expand the same business.
What is the achievement you are proudest of?
I am so proud of my family, I have a wife and two children. These are the people that makes my life complete.
