I had a goal of building a house with zinc roof.I never had any means of making my goal come true.I am a farmer and i was farming just to survive.I have four children,two were in school,and two was not able to go to school because of lack of money.I was cutting palm when I heard the news that GD organization has come to give us money..

Yes, I have had previous goals. I have been wanting to build a new house for me and my family. The previous house that I am living in with my family is not in any good condition. When I receive my first transfer from GiveDirectly, I split it up into two portions. I used the first portion to buy Zinc for the constitution of my house project and some food for my family to be eating. The second portion, I used it to pay people to mold dirt bricks while I was waiting for my second transfer. When I receive the second transfer, I used it to lay my bricks and zinc the house. When I receive my third transfer, I pay the engineer who is building the house for me and my family to have a better place to stay in the future.

I am so much happy and thankful to God for GiveDirectly presence in my life. My and wife used to begged people to sustain our family. But I thank God now I am seeing myself building such a house for my family from the grant given to me by GiveDirectly. If GiveDirectly is not doing well, I don't know about that because I have not seen it.

My most recent transfer has been spend on my future house project and also the payment of workers that are building the house for me and my family. The remaining portion of the transfer, I bought enough food for me and my family to have much to eat. I have planned to invest some of the money into business so when the transfer from Givedirectly stops coming, I will have somewhere to get money from to sustain me and my family. This planned had made me to get some of the money in a saving club while I am waiting for my third transfer to finally complete my house and start with my business.

I have been planning to build my house and invest into business. I have not been able to accomplish my goals because I didn't have any money so things became very difficult for me. But since I started receiving the money from Givedirectly, I have started to build my house with the first transfer of my money. After the completion of the house, I will begin to start my business that I have been planning for. I want to invest into rice business because in my community, there are limited goods of such and I am interested in the business because it will help me a lot after the money stop coming from Givedirectly.

I have not really seen or heard from anyone about anything bad about GiveDirectly. Myself have not seen anything that is not done well by GiveDirectly. During the enrolment process, every deserving households in the various communities were enrolled on the GiveDirectly program and were made eligible. So if something is not done well by GiveDirectly, I do not know anything about it.

I have spend my whole entire first and second transfer on buying building materials because I really want to achieve my goals. I have planned for too long to achieve this goal but there have been no way out for me because of poverty.

The moment I received the alert on my phone , I started shouting for my wife to join me celebrate the good news. That moment was one of the happiest moment of my life. As a farmer who work tirelessly for the well-being of my family, and has been dreaming of building a bigger house that has not been possible because of the little income from the farming work; I was at peace when I received my transfer.

So my dream of building a new and spacious house to change the living condition of my family and I was never possible. My children and I are presently living in a one bed room house with very little space. Finally I used the remaining money and pay my children school fees.
