Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I was very excited the moment I received money money. This meant a lot to me. I had no food and the transfer was a relief.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
The money has made a huge difference, I managed to buy iron sheets which I couldn't have managed to buy on my own. This year would have been difficult because I have an injured leg such that it is not possible to fetch grass for the roof. This year I will sleep comfortably during rainy season because my house will no longer leak. I also used the money to buy food when I had no food at all. I am so grateful.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
My main focus was on improving my house. I had a grass thatched roof and the money gave me an opportunity to work on my house. I bought 22 iron sheets, timber, nails and some wires to improve my house. So I hired someone who is a carpenter to replace the grass thatched roof with iron sheets. I am so grateful for the transfer received. I also managed to buy a mattress which costs MK 72000. Part of the money was used to buy 2 bags of maize for food processing. I also paid the carpenter i hired.
