Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
I was able to pay off a huge debt burden and in return repossessed my plot of land. I feel peaceful and enlightened than ever before. I also bought nice bedding and clothes. This has changed my social status in the community.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I was happy when I received the mobile money message. It was a miracle for me. I had never thought that GiveDirectly would have chosen me as one of the beneficiaries.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
I spent UGX800000 to pay off debts and UGX400000 to buy a bed, mattress and clothes. I have set aside UGX100000 for food. The balance of UGX400000 will be spent to buy a cow.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving this money means that I will be able to build iron-roofed house for my household. It's becoming hard and expensive to get thatching grass hence my household spends much money after every two years renovating the roof. I can not sustain providing others basic needs like food and health care. I will be able to save money for sustaining my household needs instead of spending on house renovating after constructing the iron- roofed house. This money saved I spend on providing other neccessities for the household members.
What is the happiest part of your day?
My favourite part of the day is evening hours. I normally spend morning hours gardening , thereafter my spouse saves me with lunch. I utilise evenings for sharing future plans with the spouse and this has helped to bring harmony and happiness in our family.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The biggest hardship I face is lack of enough money for implementing some household plans. I rely on crop farming as abase of earning , however this has never been profitable due to rains. My household is therefore facing food shortages.
