How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
Right now I am able to get proper medication because I have enough money to pay for the medication unlike before when I had no capacity to seek medical attention due to lack of cash.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
I believe that the organization enabled me to have a change in my life which I never anticipated due to my financial status. On the flipside though, I did not see a negative thing about the organization because all that they do help the poor alleviate their lives.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I used a portion of the money to plow my farm and prepare my land for the new planting season that was fast approaching at that time. Apart from that I also spent a great portion of the amount on paying school fees for my grandchildren who had some outstanding balances and for the teachers to allow them to be in school and carry on their learning without constant interruptions.

Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
The biggest difference in my daily life is that nowadays I eat well. I enjoy a balanced diet unlike before, thanks to GiveDirectly.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
The moment I received the transfer I felt very happy and thanked the Lord for the blessing.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
I gave my grandson part of the money to buy a motorcycle which he currently uses to ferry goods and people so as to get income. Part of the money went on food and kept the remaining amount as savings hoping to add the second transfer and buy my other grandson a motorcycle too to be fair.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving this money means better ways of paying school. I would like to spend the transfer on paying school fees for my grandchildren who are orphans. Education is power and knowledge is all that one needs to compete the job market.
What is the happiest part of your day?
The happiest part of my day is in the morning when I go to the farm. Subsistence farming is our main source of livelihood and by maintaining my farms, I hope for a better harvest.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The biggest hardship I am facing is inability to raise fees for my grandchildren. I am old and the sources of income here are of intensive labor which I cannot manage. I find it difficult even to raise their school fees.
