Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I was awoken by a message notification early in the morning and upon checking, I was happy and excited to know that it was the transfer from GiveDirectly that had been sent to me. I could not sleep any longer with the excitement that I had. I woke up and thanked God for the blessings!
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
I was lucky to have built a house before these transfers came, but problem was, I did not have any chairs except one old stool. The biggest difference therefore is the fact that I now have enough chairs for all of us and in case I have visitors, I won't necessarily have to borrow chairs from my neighbors as it used to be. I am happy that I also bought my children both home and school uniform. Most of their clothes were old and torn and it was that time to get some new pairs too. I also used to struggle to provide the basic needs such as food and other household items and when I received the transfers, this was turned around. I can now comfortably provide for them and sleeping hungry is a forgotten case.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I spent part of the first transfer to buy some furniture(chairs) for my house. I only had a single chair in my house and this was not enough for us. My children mostly sat on the floor and whenever I had visitors, I would borrow from my neighbors. I also used some transfer to pay my children's school fees that had been pending for a while. My children had a few clothes and most of them were old and torn, I therefore bought them some new pairs of clothes.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Fencing my compound with barbed wire and wire mesh is what i have planned to spend this money on. I will then build a modern poultry unit and buy chicken for rearing. This project will be my source of income now that i will be selling mature chicken as well as eggs to earn a living.
What is the happiest part of your day?
Every morning is the happiest moment of my day. Waking up energetic and in good health gives me a motivation to work harder during the day so as to earn some income to support my family needs as a single mother of four
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
Unreliable source of income is the biggest hardship i face on a daily basis. I buy and sell groceries within the village whenever i get some money to purchase some for sale. However, the proceeds i get from this business is not sustainable since the daily profit of $0.5 is what i spend in buying food for my four children. Supporting education for my children as well as providing healthy diet has proven hard for me
