How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
After my spouse enrolled to school to further his education . We had to cut cost on expenditures meaning paying school fees for my two children who were in secondary school was difficult because entirely our household depends on my husband's salary who is a teacher. Therefore , at times , we had to compromised paying school fees for the children over my spouse's education . My life is different than it would have been if I never received these transfers because I have been able to pay school fees for my children for the whole term with GiveDirectly's transfers . As a result , they haven't been sent home for school fees and through their consistency in attendance, they have shown a slight improvement on their performance .
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion, GiveDirectly eradicated poverty in my village since they targeted the poorer to benefit from money which was not refundable . Through these money , most beneficiaries spent on educating their children , bought livestock , started small businesses and built new houses . I do not see what GiveDirectly did wrong at its work .
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I spent 30000 KES of my second transfer to pay school based distance learning for my husband . At the moment he is going on smoothly with his study . I bought food for my family's consumption 6000 KES and clothing 10,000 KES . The remaining amount I bought household utensils and now I no longer borrow from my neighbors .

Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
The biggest difference in my daily life is that I now own a cupboard. It had always been my desire to own one but I had not been able to due to lack of money. Because of this, I used to store my utensils in a carton box hence could get damaged easily. I am happy that this habit has now stopped and my utensils are a save in the cupboard.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
It was a few minutes to 4 am when I received a message alert on my phone. I was woken up by the loud message alert tone and I decided to read and know its contents. After reading the message, my heart was filled with happiness as I had never received such an amount before.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
I decided to clear school fees arrears for my children who are in secondary school using part of my transfer. I settled on this so that they would be able to study without any interruptions. Also, I bought some household items that I did not have. I bought some utensils and a cupboard to use in storing the utensils. As a way of improving my poultry keeping project, I bought a wire mesh to use in fencing part of my compound where I will be feeding my chicken from. I am now glad since I no longer practice freelance poultry keeping project which usually led to the destruction of my crops on the farm.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving this money means that I will be able to build a better poultry house.I am a poultry farmer and have several chicken now.My spouse and I work and hence when we are not home it is necessary that there is a good fencing as well as house for the chicken so they do not wander into people's farms.I will use this money to buy enough materials to build and with the remainder I will buy more chicken
What is the happiest part of your day?
My work as a primary teacher is very tiresome. It involves so many activities both in the classroom and outside. It also requires one to have set goals each day that need to be achieved. At the end of the day,am awfully tired but at the same time my job gives me lots of fulfillment since it is what I have always wanted to do.Having met the goals I had for the day and coming home to my family makes evening the happiest part of the day.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The biggest hardship I have faced is raising school fees.Even though my spouse and I are primary school teachers, what we earn is hardly enough to pay fees for our children in secondary and primary schools. In addition,my husband is furthering his studies during school holidays and this means that there is more fees to pay.
