How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My life currently has changed in that receiving this money has enabled me to cater for most of my financial issues such as being able to acquire farm lands that will enable me to farm on large scale. When the harvest is ready, I will sell off the produce and provide for my family needs with out any inconveniences. Prior to getting this transfer, I only had a very small piece of land that I used to farm on since my father had limited land and we were many children that the land was shared and it was never enough to take care of my family needs.
In addition to this, receiving this money has enable me to build my own permanent house. Before getting this transfer, the house I was enrolled had a crack and had fallen then I decided to move in to my late brother's house. I am happy that soon, I will be moving into my own house when fully complete.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
GiveDirectly in my opinion has done well by developing my community in terms of housing, farming, education, Health, nutrition among others. This is evidenced as people's lifestyles have greatly changed.
On my side, I am grateful to GiveDirectly as I see a positive change in my life. I was able to build my own permanent house, take my children to school among others.
However in my opinion, I see that there is absolutely nothing bad with GiveDirectly. Given the fact that there is zero tolerance of bribe, I really have nothing against it.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I spent my second transfer to Ugx 500000 to hire for farm land in Malera.
I then used Ugx 600000 to buy some more building materials such as iron sheets, timbers, nails, cement, food, and paying labor that helped complete constructing my house.
I then paid fees for my children for this term and paid off the debt for the previous term at Ugx 300000.
I used the balance to cater for personal needs such as clothing among others.
