How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
The biggest difference in my life is that l am now staying in a iron roofed house where I am never worried about rainnny seasons compared to before when I used to be worried more so when it used to rain when I was not at home. I have earn a name in the village, I am now able to interact, socialize and share with my agemates something that I was just longing for.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion give directly did a very good thing by giving money to the most need people, there was no corruption through their processing and the staffs were so respectful to the community. They also did a very good thing by training people before starting the program.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I spent most of the transfer to add more building materials and built a spacious iron roofed house in my own compound. I was staying in a very small and old house which was also leaking, when it is raining i could put things in one corner which was a bit safe. I am now the most happiest person in our village because I am no longer staying in a small leaky house where people were no longer stay in any more. I was so embarrassed but there was nothing I could do because I could not afford to buy iron sheets. I am now staying in a spacious comfortable house where I am not worried when it is raining and I am very confident when I have visitors because I know it will accommodate all of them. I also spent the transfer to buy furniture being that I did nit have any think comfortable to sit on. The remaining balance I spent to pay school fee for my children who sent home school fee and I did not have money to pay for. I am happy because they are not bring sent home for school fee any more.

Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
The biggest difference in my life since I received this transfer is that I have an iron-roofed house. Before the transfer, I used to live a grass-thatched house with leaking and was too small for my family. During the rainy seasons, I used to send my children to my neighbour's house because we could not manage to sleep in the same house. My wife and I would hardly sleep at such nights. We would keep moving from one corner to other looking for where the roof does not leak. When I received this transfer, I saw a new house in my life. This is a dream come true in my life because of GD.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
When I received this money, I felt very happy. I did not know I would ever receive such amount of money in my life. I knew my dream of owning an iron-roofed house would surely come to pass. I really thank GD for changing and bringing hope to my life.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
I spent my first transfer on paying school for my daughter who had been sent home for the same. She had stayed home for two weeks as I was still looking for money to pay in school. I also used part of the transfer on buying building materials such as iron sheets, nails and timber which I used on building a new house. The one I had before was too small and had a leaking roof. During the rainy seasons, I could not sleep well because I would move into the house as I look for a comfortable place where the roof does not leak. The remaining part of the transfer I used in buying tree seedlings which I have planted. I know in the next five years, I will be able to sell to raise money to handle other family issues.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
My desire has been to own a home. I have a piece of land and my plan is to buy iron sheets, timber, nails, doors, windows and pay labor for building my house. This house is too small, it is leaking and I have to put all my properties in one corner when it rains.
What is the happiest part of your day?
The happiest part of my day is in the evening when singing with our choir members. At this time I do get spiritual nourishment and this gives me hope in life.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The biggest hardship I have faced in my life is being sick for most of the time, I have been suffering from typhoid. I have spent a lot on medication and this has left my husband without any money for the family upkeep.
