I happen to belong to a savings committee where we individually contribute money at intervals and hand it to an individual in a certain duration of time which is mostly monthly, so as one could have a large amount of money which they can use it according to their preference and liking. I personally am waiting for my turn because I want to start a business where I own a store and sell groceries as well. Therefore when I received the money I contributed KES 2,000 to the savings committee from the transfers I received, leaving me with KES 1,000 where I used KES 500 to purchase four packets of maize and the balance I purchased clothes for my kids since most of their clothes were raggedy, torn and worn out.

This program has done quite a great deal for my family and I especially in helping with the construction of the house because just recently the house we stayed in had collapsed to we moved in into our new house which would not have possible were it not for the funds we received which helped us to nearly complete our house.

Prior to even receiving the first transfers my husband and I had started constructing a house which were planned on it being bigger than the one we lived because the space was small and the kids were growing up but unfortunately we had to stop because we ran out of cash. So after receiving the money I took KES 2,000 and used it to buy timber for the roofing of the house then I took KES 500 and paid tuition fee for one of my child who attended school because I had a debt meanwhile the other two were still too young to join school. Then lastly I took the remaining KES 500 and put it in my savings account for a rainy day.

I received the transfers in the morning while I was still home because I was waiting to see if anyone would call me for work. Most times I help people in delivering water to their homes and they pay me minimal wages which sort out my family financial problems from time to time but they barely cover the cost of everything and most times me and my children end up going to bed in empty stomachs. In short I am extremely thankful for the money I get.

For one I would say at least my kids and I got something to eat and honestly that is one of my of the things that I am eternally grateful for, when it comes to this program. Also with the business I have started when it eventually works out and kicks off, I will have extra money to assist me in raising my two small children.

After I got the money I decided to begin a venture of starting a business that would eventually grow and sustain me in the future so I bought two hens that I plan on rearing and after they have chicks in the long run I will use for both commercial and domestic use. Apart from that I also catered for food since sometimes my children and I could sleep hungry from time to time and this devastated me because children can barely sustain hunger. So providing a meal for them was really vital.
