How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My life is different than it would have been if I never received these transfers because I have been able to complete the construction on my house that was being developed after receiving my first transfers. Having a decent house such as this was always a dream since the little money I could got out of my daily causal income went straight to pay my children's school fees and other household expenditures. Lastly, my life is at peace because I'm no longer stressed like I used to on how I shall complete paying school arrears for my children. Today they are rarely sent back at home and this gives them ample time to study. Their performance have improved tremendously for the past four terms as well because of the timely settled school fees .
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
GiveDirectly did well by uplifting my community life of living because those who didn't have permanent houses built, children went to school comfortably, lands were bought, and livestock among others. I personally salute GiveDirectly for embracing direct transfer without involving intermediaries that enhance transparency on the disbursement of money. On the other hand there is nothing wrong GiveDirectly did.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I spent my second transfer from GiveDirectly to buy dairy cow 27,000 KES and now my produced has doubled from two litters of milk to 4 litters. I cultivated my piece of land and bought the necessary inputs in its preparation .The remaining amount I bought food for my family's consumption and renovated my house that I started to construct with the first transfer.

Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
The biggest difference in my daily life is that I am happier because I now have a more spacious house made of iron sheets on the walls and so will no longer have to smear it all the time. I also relax comfortably on the seats because of the new cushions that I purchased. My health has also improved because am no longer stressed since I have already accomplished my goal in life.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
The moment I received the money, I was very happy because I had a goal of constructing a new house and didn't have the cash required.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
When I received my transfers, I had a goal of constructing a new house. I spent my transfers to purchase iron sheets, timber and paid for construction labour. The house I initially lived in was very squeezed. For the remaining amount, I decided to buy sheep for rearing, clothing's for my children and seat cushions. I used to sit on the chairs I had without cushions and indeed it was very uncomfortable. I also bought some wire mesh for fencing and other kitchen necessities.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving this money means that I will be able to build a new kitchen and a poultry house. My kitchen is now very old and am always afraid that it will collapse on us.I also do not have any other source of income except for my small piece of land where I plant maize, beans and potatoes.I feel that if i keep some chicken,I will be able to have another source of income especially through the sale of eggs
What is the happiest part of your day?
After my children leave for school,I begin work on my farm. Most of the time,I am weeding or planting .While I am busy in the farm,I feel happy because it is through this hardwork I put in everyday that my family has food to eat, clothes and money for their education. When am idle ,I tend to get stressed out when my mind wanders thinking about the struggles I go through to raise my children. This therefore makes morning the happiest part of my day
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
My husband has another wife. Therefore he does not spend a lot of time with us in order to assist in meeting the daily needs of our children.I am forced to shoulder all the needs by myself.Without a source of income and only relying on farm produce, life is often difficult. My farm is very small and cannot produce enough to feed us as well as any extra for sale.Aside from food,my children have other needs that help facilitate their education like books and school fees.Meeting all these needs has been the biggest hardship I have faced
