Since I started receiving transfers from GiveDirectly, I have decided to built my own house. And this has been the only goal for me now. For this reason, I have not developed any new goal other than seeing my desired met. Presently, I am staying in a relative house with my kid and sharing very limited space with other family members. And the living condition had not been conducive for my child and I. Sadly, I couldn't do anything about it because I have no source of income. Now with transfers coming from GiveDirectly, I have planned to use it and built my own house. With excitement, I can say my life is changing for the better. All thanks and appreciation to GiveDirectly for this financial opportunity.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
Firstly, I am very excited and grateful to GiveDirectly for this financial opportunity given me. Never in my life, I ever thought about building my own house due to my poor financial status. GiveDirectly has done a marvellous job that cannot not be explained. They have brought so much relieved and joyed to us as family. Their rescue mission to improve the livelihood of the needy has brought so much successes. Therefore, I have not seen anything wrong done by GiveDirectly.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
After receiving my first two transfers, I us the money and bought building materials such as, zinc, roofing nail, and I also pay someone to cut sticks for the construction. However, now with my recent transfer, I needed money to pay the contractors to start the project. Therefore, I used some of the money and paid the workers. The remaining money was spend on buying food items for the workers. Happily, I can say in few weeks time, I will be moving out of my family house and moving into a new and comfortable house. This bring me great Joy seeing the level of changes taking place in my life. Many thanks to GiveDirectly.

Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
When the others from our town started to receive their money, they started to make fun of us stating that we were left out. I was never happy about that because I really needed this money to achieve my plans that I have long planned. I was resting in the afternoon when one of my friends came and woke me up saying that transfer has come. I was so happy when I heard the news. In that moment, I grabbed my phone and checked it to make sure. When I saw the message, I started to sing and dance because I was excited. I am staying with my grandmother along with my son. As a family person I believe that I should be staying in my own house but I could not because I had no money. GiveDirectly have help me greatly because with this transfer, I will be able to achieve my dreams of building my own house for the future of myself and my son.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
It is my first time receiving such amount of money. I feel very complete now in my life because I am going to be leaving my grandmother house and I Will be living in my own house when the rest of my transfer comes. Right now, I am no more sleeping in such ugly bed I was sleeping on. I am now sleeping on comfortable mattress. Thank God for GiveDirectly for this great help because I had no where to get such amount of money from to help myself achieve my dreams.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I was sleeping on a very flat mattress that made my night sleep very uncomfortable and unbearable for me and my son. For this reason, when I received my first transfer, I decided to use portion it to buy myself one mattress to have a better sleeping bed and I also bought one bundle of zinc to build a house for my family and I for the future. I am waiting for the rest of the transfer to buy more building materials and pay the engineer who is going to be building the house.
