What do you plan to do with the cash transfer?
I have a family of three members and we live in a one room house. The house has an iron sheet roof though it leaks during the rainy season. I do subsistence farming and the husband does casual jobs at the coastal towns making little income that caters for food. I lack the capacity to build a spacious house. I will take $550 to build a three room house for the family using iron sheets . I will also use $ 350 to start a grocery business at Kilifi town. I intend to make a profit of approximately $10 per day. The business will bring a sustainable source of income to my family.
What is the happiest part of your day?
My father in-law has been sick over years and he made avow that once he gets well he would make a very big feast for the family to celebrate. In early December last year he was fully healed and slaughtered a bull for the family to celebrate. It was a nice ceremony that made me feel very happy.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
Housing is the challenge I am currently facing in life. I live in a one room house with an iron sheet roof. However, it leaks heavily during the rainy season. I spend sleepless nights when it rains during the night hours.
