How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My olny goal have been to complete my house that I built long time ago. I do a little business but the money generated from the business is not really enough to complete my house. Due to my age, I have not really been able to do any work that is strenuous. Therefore, due to this reason I was so happy when I started receiving the transfer from Givedirectly. Through the transfer from Givedirectly, I have been able to buy 10 bags of cement to plaster my house and lay the floor because I need a better future house to stay in in my old age.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
GiveDirectly have done so much well by reaching out to every deserving households in the town and determining their eligibility during the enrolment process. Through the help of Givedirectly unconditional cash transfer, most people who could not afford to build houses or send their children to school are now doing those things. I am very much satisfied and grateful for this great opportunity because I could not afford to. Thanks be to God Almighty for GiveDirectly.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I built a big house long time but I could not afford to complete it because of my financial strength. I am old, due to my old age I can not do any hard work. Therefore, I was so excited when I received my recent transfer from Givedirectly. Through my recent transfer, I was able to spend portion of it on my grand child school fees because I need a better future for him. I also bought 10 bags of cement to add to the first 10 bags I had to plaster my house and complete my house project.

Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I was busy under my kitchen tank cleaning up that morning when my message came. I am not a educated woman, due to this reason, I decided to call one of the boys in my communty to read the message to me. I have not have anything at all in live. I have been sleeping on the ground on a mat. I was very much happy when the boy told me that it was GiveDirectly cash transfer message.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
In my house, I been sleeping on the ground on a mat. Over these years since I was born, I have not been able to get such amount of money from anyone or even through work I do. Because of all these reasons, I been living in a very poor condition in life. Right now in my life, the biggest difference I can tell anyone is that I am very much satisfied and happy. I can not sleep on a mat anymore. I have invested portion of my transfer into business to help me when I am out of cash that GiveDirectly give me in the long run.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
With the previous conditions I have lived in, I do not want to experience such horrific life condition again. I am a old lady living alone in my town. I have been founding it very difficult with sleeping on the ground with just mat. I have also been striving to get my daily meals each day. Due to these reasons, I decided to use portion of my transfer to buy mattress to have a warm bed to sleep in. I also use another portion of it to buy fish to sell as a backup just incase when the money given to me by GiveDirectly is finished, I'll have somewhere to get money from. The othe portion, I am saving it to be able to buy my daily needs. Thanks to God Almighty for GiveDirectly cash transfer program for making my life a better one and making me to have a better future in my old age.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
If I am successful on this program, I will use the cash transfer to plaster my house. Presently the house I am living in is open. My children started building the house for me, but now they don't have money to finish the house. Where my grand child and I are sleeping now is very open to the breeze and its making us sick. I will also use portion of the money to start selling raw fish which will bring in more capital to feed my child and I.
What is the happiest part of your day?
My happiest moment has been, me being able to get on my feet, after being sick for months.I was very sick and could not walk. But I am very well and able to be a part of the Givedirectly programme. This gives me so much joy. With the help from GD , if I am successful, I believe I will use the money to better my life and that of my grand child. I am so happy, since I was born, I have never seen an NGO giving cash free?and a phone to individual who will be successful. I am grateful to God and so much happy for Givedirectly entering in my community.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
My major challenge now is, I am financially down, my husband passed few years ago and things have become very difficult. Everything that I need in this life for myself and my grand child requires money. My children dont have money to support me. My grand child is not going to school because of lack of money
