Do you have any new or additional goals for your life for the next four months?
I am planning to save up and purchase a cow. This will help with the production of milk for consumption and sale. I can as well sale the cow at a future date and use the cash realized to venture into another project.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer.
Upon receiving my transfers, I was able to pay school fees for my child and he is no longer sent home for school fees arrears like he used to before the transfers were sent. I also started rearing chicken and I have seen good results. The eggs laid by the chicken have become a source of revenue for my household and I can proudly say that we can afford to put food on our table on a daily basis without fail.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
In the next six months, I do expect to have improved my farming and I will have also bought a cow. This means we will no longer have to purchase milk, and from the sales made from the poultry business, I will comfortably be able to sustain my family. My children's school attendance will also improve since by then I am certain that I will have settled their school fees. I am looking forward to a smooth flow of activities in my household.

Do you have any new or additional goals for your life for the next four months?
In the next four months, I am planning to start a business. I am thinking of venturing on buying and selling tomatoes. The products are readily available from farmers within my locality. I see a great opportunity in it as this business is not carried out by many. I will be buying tomatoes from farmers in bulk from farmers which is much cheaper and transport to a nearby shopping centre and resell it at a fair price. This would earn me a good profit.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer.
In the last four months, I together with my husband we have made a great step in life. First, we invested part of our transfers in farming and presently we have maize crops and vegetables. This wouldn't have happened were it not for the transfer which we received from GD. Apart from farming, we have also spent part of the remaining amount to pay school fees for our children. Our children are no longer sent home for school fees like before we started receiving this transfers. And that is the biggest difference in my life.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
In the next six months, I would have started a business and I would be financially stable. I believe that buying and selling of tomatoes since the product is available locally and would be obtained from farmers at a lower price and resell it at a nearby shopping centre at a fair price. The profit which I would make from it I would spend to pay school fees for my children and cater for other family needs.

How is your life currently different from how it was four months ago?
In the last four months, most of my land was idle since I never had enough money to perform the required farm operations before planting. After I received the transfers, I have seen many differences, especially over the past four months. I have put most of the idle fields into cultivation and managed to plant cabbages which are now doing good. I am glad that the market price is currently high to mean that the timing was really good. We are expecting to harvest that field of cabbages in the next two to three weeks. All these have seen me pay school fees with ease of something which was really hard before. Thanks to GiveDirectly for changing our lives.
Do you have any new or additional goals for your life for the next four months?
Having accomplished our first goal of ensuring that we produce our own milk from our livestock, I now have an additional goal to start a small business. I Have been planning for a longer time to start my own business and I am now certain that this is the time to make it work. I am currently building on the capital which I will be using to start the business. The kind of business I will be starting is the grocery business but I will major on selling tomatoes to the locals. The business is so lucrative on my view and it will help me in establishing other future projects among them is the payment of school fees for my children.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer.
Before receiving transfers from GiveDirectly, we had no livestock in our household. We used to buy everything from eggs to milk on a daily basis for our domestic use. It was really hard for us to managed and sometimes we would go without them which means my children would miss their usual cup of tea at some point. As we were expecting the first transfer, we sat down with my husband and decided that we would start a saving plan towards the purchase of a cow once we received the money. No sooner had we received the at first transfer than we opened a common Mshwari account where each of us was contributing 1500 KES monthly and within no time it was enough to buy us two cows. Currently, we are producing our own milk which is enough for both our household use and surplus for sale. This indeed is the biggest difference in our daily lives.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
The business I am planning to start now will be operational in the next six months. This will have sorted the school fees issues and other bills in our household. I have a lot of hopes in it that it will work well for me and makes other projects easy to run too.

How is your life currently different from how it was four months ago?
My life currently different from how it was four months ago in that I am now a proud parent because I believe enrolling my child to private school is the best gift to him as I know education is key to a brighter future.
Do you have any new or additional goals for your life for the next four months?
My additional goal in the next four months is to start a grocery business. My husband and I are planning to jointly save our monthly transfers to use it as a capital for the business. This will be a form of investment which will help me later to raise money for paying school fees or use for an emergency.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer.
The biggest difference in my daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer is that I own a cow. I had been saving the monthly transfer and I finally bought the dairy cow. Previously I used to buy milk from my neighbor, this has been very expensive. The cow will provide us with milk that would definitely improve food security and nutrition in the family. Besides that, it will also act as an investment to pay school fee for my child who will be joining secondary school in future as I will be saving more from the money that I had been using to purchase the milk. I will also be selling the surplus to earn extra cash. I have also used the transfer to enroll my first born child in boarding primary school. He is now performing better than he was while he was in day school. This is because he has enough time to study rather than walking for long distance to get to school.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
I expect my life to change for the better in the next six months. I am optimistic that the dairy cow I have bought will have reproduced. I will be having enough milk for my family and selling the surplus. I also believe that my business will have grown. This will boost my income. I now depend on casual work from tea plantation but I believe that by then I will not be working there because I believe the income I will be getting from the investment will be enough to cater for my family needs.
