What did you spend your second transfer on?
I spent my entire second transfer on a piece of land for food production. I have been hiring land to grow food since I did not have any and had no finances. But this coming season I will grow food on my own land, thank you very much.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion, I have observed that GD support transforms lives, and actually many people have been able to initiate small scale businesses and are earning an income where they had nothing before GD supported them. In my view, there is nothing that GD does not do well, though there is need to support many more people.
How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My life is different in that I will be saving the amount I have been spending on land hire (0.25 acres) for production of maize and vegetables. Two , the land I have bought is bigger(0.5 acres), and I intend to grow maize for family consumption and vegetables, capsicum and tomatoes for sale. I have been making 1,500 KES as profit per season of 3 months, but this time round I look forward to doubling my sales and profit to at least 3,000 KES per season since the land is mine and it is bigger.Thank you.

What did you spend your first transfer on?
I spent a larger part of my transfers to buy a wooden bed and table. The remaining part of my transfers was spent on paying my child's school fees.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
In the beggining I thought that the message from safaricom was a scam. I therefore tried to buy airtime and to my surprise I was able to purchase airtime. I stopped cutting my vegetables and started thanking God.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
The biggest difference in my life is that I can now sit down and eat on top a table and not on the floor which was embarrassing especially when hosting my visitors. In addition to that,I can now sleep comfortably on my wooden bed without worrying that I will be bitten by ants due to sleeping on the floor.

What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The biggest hardship that I face right now is lack of enough money to buy a piece of land and build a house for my family. We are currently squatters at my Aunty in laws piece of land and this often leads to arguments with her sons who want us to vacate the land.
What is the happiest part of your day?
The happiest part of my day is in the morning when I wake up because I can thank the Lord for blessing me and my family with life.
What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving this money means that I can buy some land and build a home for my family, there by enabling them to live a more comfortable life.
