How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
Before i received this transfer from GiveDirectly i used to struggle even to find one meal per day. Excitedly, this transfer has made me food sufficient during the lean season. In addition to this I now have a good sleeping place with the beddings I bought with this cash. Soon after I finish constructing my house, I will for the first time have a better looking house with a cement floor and iron sheets. I do not know how to thank GD, for the transfer has tremendously changed my life for the better.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
GiveDirectly does so well by helping the poor across the remotest areas which are usually hard to reach like my village which have poor road network.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
This second transfer was spent on buying iron sheets to top up the construction materials of a house which i bought using the first transfer. When the rains stop i want to build my first ever iron sheets corrugated house. I used the other part of the transfer on buying goats as i have started goat farming. When the goats multiply i will be selling some for survival.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving this money is one of the greatest news i have ever heard all my life. I am so happy. I will buy matress and blankets for my family and i. As i said i am not married this has been a hard time for me raising my children on my own. Finding food and other basic things like soap has been a problem, i feel this will not be my case anymore.
What is the happiest part of your day?
Anytime i have money in a day is my happiest time. When i get money i know i will feed my children and this brings too much happiness
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
My biggest hardship has been my struggle to find money. My source of income is casual labour and its not always roses. There times i go out and come back with empty pockets as i was unable to find any work to gain my income that day. This results to us sleeping only on mangoes as food but this also is a problem as mangoes are seasonal
