How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
Without GiveDirectly, I would not have bought a dairy cow at this time. At my age, I was unable to raise a large sum of money because I now rely on children to provide for my needs. They are all focusing on their families so they could only give me little money for upkeep. I am letting them work on their own needs that I have a daily income from selling milk. Life has become better for me and for them too.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion, Givedireslry did well in informing us of during a meeting so well that we became very conversant with their work. They even stuck to their teachings as they workes in our village. We also saw that they carries out its work with transparency.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I spent the money I received on a dairy cow. I decided to buy a mature cow that was on milk production because I needed milk for my household. I have in fact been selling part of the milk and earn an income on a daily basis. I use the money I get on my little daily household expenditure and mostly o personal care products. My hope is that I will start a poultry keeping business using part of the money form selling milk. I also bought food and clothes. I then saved another part of the money for spending on household needs over a period of time.

Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
At the moment, I am a very happy person because since I moved to my new compound with all new houses, I see my life to be having a fresh start. I now have a much bigger compound as before because I moved from where I initially lived.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I was immediately filled with happiness. I initially thought it wasn't true thinking it's one of those messages from cons and I had to confirm this from one of my sons. The next day I went straight to the market to purchase the dairy cow I had all along longed to own.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
When I received the transfers, the first thing i has in mind was to purchase a dairy cow. I only had one which had not started producing milk at the moment and thought it was wise to increase my stock. The one i bought is almost calving and soon i will have plenty of milk both for consumption as well as for sale hence generate income. I also spent the remaining amount to construct a new house. I used it purchase building materials and paid for labour. I slightly moved from where I had initially build a house to create more space since my house was very close to my son's house

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving this money will enable me to build a poutry unit to practice poultry keeping, a project that i know will help me get some daily income upon selling eggs and once the chicken multiplies i will sell them and use the money to buy sheep for rearing in my farm. I also plan to buy a dairy cow with the remaining part of the transfer in order to reduce the cost of buying milk daily as well as selling some to also earn some income on a daily basis.
What is the happiest part of your day?
Mornings are the happiest part of my day since this is the time i visit my children who live nearby to know how they are fairing on. Chatting with them makes my day since they always appreciate my daily morning visits.i usually spend the rest of the day alone at home weaving ropes and baskets.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
At my age, engaging in strenous activities such as casual jobs or working in the garden has become hard for me due to poor health. The only activity i am sure to engage myself in is rearing livestock. However, due to lack of finances, i have been unable to buy any kind of livestock hence i fully depend on my children for my upkeep; which is the biggest hardship i am facing.
