What did you spend your second transfer on?
We spent the second transfer to buy fencing materials and fenced our compound for security reasons.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
what Give Directly does well is giving a large sum of money unconditionally to the poor which can help individuals change their lives. What it does not do well is selecting just a few individuals in the village to get the money which can lead to hatred among the villagers.
How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
If I had never received money from Give Directly,I would not have managed to accomplish most of the things I did due to lack of money,ie fencing my compound.

What did you spend your first transfer on?
I spent my first transfer on paying back 10,000 KES which I borrowed to pay for my children's school fees. Bought a television set at 15,000 KES so my children no longer go to my neighbours to watch television. Used 7,000 KES to buy bedding for my children so my children no longer sleep on a mat as before. I the n used the rest of the cash on a bag of maize and other households. I now feel very hopeful in life being that I now have the things I couldn't get before.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I was so happy when I received the money because my family was in a big financial crisis at the time.

What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
My biggest hardship is paying school fees to my three children who are in secondary school, i have been doing that through toil as i said before that i am a peasant farmer, but through poor climatic change, the crop production has been low, and that has caused negative impact on my income.
What is the happiest part of your day?
My happiest of the day is morning, because that's when God gives me a another day to do my work for income generating. As a mother, in the morning is when i take the full control of preparing my children for school, and that's my pride.
What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving this money will mean a lot to me since, i constructed a house but it's earth walled and floor is still mud, i now believe that receiving this money will enable me to cement my house, educate my children and do any other things that will improve my economic life. Generally i will be some miles a head economically.
