What did you spend your third transfer on?
I cleared high school back in 2011 but could not proceed anywhere with studies as my certificate was detained given that I had school fees arrears, but I had to find something to do to support my child. That is when I resorted to peeling potatoes for some woman in our local market who sell fries. GiveDirectly came to my rescue with the second transfer and the third transfer. I spent the second transfer on clearing the arrears to get my high school certificate and the third to do a short course in supplies management. As we speak,I am contracted as a supplies management officer in a local secondary school. I am making my own money. Thank you GiveDirectly for the transfer.

What did you spend your second transfer on?
I did my final secondary examinations in 2001, but my certificate had been withheld by the school because I had fee arrears of 38000 KES. I therefore immediately withdrew that amount and paid the school and collected my certificate, which really gave me joy because i had nothing to show that I had gone through secondary school all along. I then used 5000 KES to register for a computer applications course which I am almost completing, with the hope that I will manage to handle jobs that require computer skills, something I was unable to do before. The balance was then spent on clothes and foodstuffs for my family.
