How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My life is different than how it would have been had I nit received the transfer in that I always have access to clean water. This is because the transfers enabled me to acquire a water tank that I currently use to harvest rain water for domestic use. Also, I now live in a tiled house hence dusting it is always easier and less time consuming.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In opinion, GiveDirectly did well by enrolling everyone in our village and I do not see anything that they did not do well.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
When I received my second transfer, I spent some amount to buy some building materials that I am intending to use in building a kitchen for my family. Also, I spent some amount to buy cement and to pay for labor of fixing tiles in my house. On the remaining amount, I bought food for my family.

Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
The biggest difference in my daily life is that I have bought a water tank for storing clean water. Getting clean water for drinking in our place is not an easy task. I used to walk for a long distance to fetch water. This was so challenging because I had other chores at home. My children could help me after school but I did not like this because it was taking much of their time which they could have used in doing their homework assignments. Currently, I have bought 10,000 liters water tank and this has enabled me to devote much of my time to other chores at home. I do not have to walk for a long distance as before. We now have clean water for drinking and we are no longer exposed to water-borne diseases because we treat the water in the tank. My children have enough time to do their own assignment and this has led to the improvement of performance at school. I'm so happy because GiveDirectly has changed our standard of living.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
The moment I received the first transfer I felt so happy. I remember it was very early in the morning when I was checking my phone as usually. I felt so happy because I have never received such an amount of money before. All my family members were so happy as well. I knew from that point that I will buy a water tank to enable us access to clean water.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
I used to walk for a longer distance to long for clean water for my family domestic use and for my livestock. Getting the first transfer prompted me to buy a 10,000 water tank which has ease my work and the rest of the money I used it to buy four hens, food for the family, I also paid workers who were doing the construction at home.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving this money means i will be able to complete my house construction project which i started up 2 years ago and is incomplete due to lack of finances. I also intend to add one more dairy cow for milking which will in turn boost the income generated from selling 3litres of milk daily at ksh 30 per litre produced by the cow i own.
What is the happiest part of your day?
My usual day entails cutting nappier grass in the farm and fetching water for my cow in the morning after milking and delivering the milk i usually sell to a local hotel nearby. I then do my routine household chores till afternoon when i take a rest, a time i consider myself most happy.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
After getting married 19 years ago, the biggest hardship i faced is infertility condition which denied me a chance to bear children. I ended up spending a lot of money in various hospitals seeking for treatment in order to avoid ridicule from my in laws who ended up forcing my spouse to marry a second wife to bear him children. All in all, i thank God since after all these struggles, He finally blessed my womb 3 years ago by rewarding me with a baby boy, which has made me regain back societal respect and my spouse is back home
