How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
I am grateful to Give Directly for enabling me to go back to school through the transfers which I used to pay my college fees. Other than fulfilling my dream, going to college has also kept me away from idling around and keeping bad company that would influence me negatively. I am not very proud to say this but, I think that if I had not gone back to school, I would be involved in drugs by now because that is what most of my former friends do now.
Do you have any new or additional goals for your life?
All I had always wanted to go to college but my parents were unable to fund my studies, but after I received the transfers, I was able to join. I am currently very happily taking the course of my dreams and my only focus is to ensure I perform well hence no additional goals.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
After completing high school, my biggest dream was to further my studies and pursue a course in engineering, but this was not possible as my parents could not raise the required fees due to their lack of stable income. After I joined the program and received my first transfer, I decided to fulfil my dream by joining college and using my transfers to pay my fees. All the money I recently received was used to pay the college fees so that I could have only a little balance that would be manageable for my parents.

How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My life is currently different from how it would have been had I not received the transfer in that I have been able to join college something which I had not been able to do before. I had always been saving some money from my daily hustles but I had not still managed to fulfill my dream since I could at times use my little savings on emergencies. I am now glad that God has enabled me fulfill this through GiveDirectly.
Do you have any new or additional goals for your life?
The only goal I now have is to be a successful person in life. I am currently pursuing a course in building and construction engineering. With this I am optimistic that I will be an independent person in future. With the current industrialization and rapid growth of towns in my country, I am assured of an employment opportunity after I have acquired my certificate because few people have studied this course.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I spent part of my most recent transfer to pay for my college fee. It has always been my dream to further my studies but I had not been able to do so due to lack of money. When GiveDirectly came for enrollment, I was the happiest person as I saw this as an opportunity which God was giving me to fulfill my hearts desires. I also saved some amount so that I can be able use them in case of an emergency like sickness. I thought this as a good idea since I do not have a stable source of income.

Do you have any new goals that you didn't have before receiving the transfer?
My goals now are to go to college and study Buidling and Construction Engineering. I have admired this course since i joined form one. I now see this dream finally coming to reality.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
The biggest difference in my life is that I now have my high school certificate and my result slip. I can now go to college and achieve my dreams of studying Building and Construction Engineering. I never imagined I could ever clear my fees and obtain my certificate. I had lost hope already as there was no where I could ever get the money to clear the school fees arrears. Give Directly has greatly changed my life.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I spent my transfer to clear my high school fees so that I could obtain my high school certificate and result slip. I completed my high school education in the year 2017, but my high school certificate and result slip had been retained in school because of the 13200 KES school fees arrears that I had not paid. I have always admired to go to college and study Building and Construction Engineering. This is after I saw my uncle oversee the construction of large buildings that went even up to 26 floors. It was amazing to see bare and empty land turn into large and mighty buildings. I developed interest in construction and I have wanted to study what my uncle studied too. I could not be accepted in any college without my high school certificate, this is why I gladly paid my school fees arrears and finally my certificate was released. I now see myself a step ahead into achieving my goals. I am remaining with 6800 KES from the first transfers, that I will add to my coming transfers and pay my college fees. I am very grateful to Give Directly.
Describe the moment when you started receiving transfers. How did you feel?
I was hanging out with my friends at our usual place that we normally sit. I heard a message come into my phone, but I did not bother to look at the message at first. I eventually opened the message and I realized it was the money. I was so shocked at first and at that time, I believed that truly the transfers were real. I never told my friends, I stayed there with my friends for a while and then I came to my house and started planning on how i would spend the money.
