How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My new goal is to buy a dairy cow since I don't have one at the moment. After exhausting both my transfers, I am currently depending on my farm produce so that I can sell and buy a dairy cow that will provide us with milk for consumption.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion, Givedirectly did well by being fair in all stages of enrollment. No one was left in my village and we are grateful for the timely support that has transformed all households in my village.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
After receiving my second transfer, I constructed a two-roomed house worth KES 45,000. We had been living in a single house with my five family members and we didn't have privacy as parents. The house is fully complete and we have already moved and we are enjoying the spacious rooms. We converted that one we had to be a kitchen. The remaining part of the money, I used in buying clothes for my household members. I am very grateful to Givedirectly for the support that has brought transformation to my household.

Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I was at home tending to my animals when I heard of a message alert, I was surprised and overwhelmed when I saw a message that I had received a sum of $500 from GiveDirectly, I immediately called my husband and gave him the good news, he was excited, happy and most of all grateful.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
My family and I live in an ancestral home/land, It is very small because of the huge number of family members sharing, sometimes conflict would arise as a result of this, I wanted to have my own space, to avoid such land disputes. The transfer changed my life because I was able to purchase a parcel of land, I am so happy and grateful for this great milestone in my life.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
When the field Officer left my house during Census, My hopes were revived, I knew that with the promise of getting the transfer money my dream would be realised, therefore, the moment my transfer came in, I used it in buying a parcel of land worth $480, I am so happy that all this was realised within a short period.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
I was married to an extended family and my husband is among the eight sons of that family. With a small acreage of land owed by the family, land subdivision resulted in us being given a small portion. The size is so small that is only able to accommodate house structures with no additional space to farm. As a result, receiving this money will mean that I will be able to buy close to half an acre piece of land at a cost of 80,000 shillings. To realize this, I will have to save the first transfer until I receive the second for the land to be paid for in full. This will provide me with the space to carryout farming. The little produce I will get from the farm will go a long way in sustaining the needs of my family.
What is the happiest part of your day?
After I am done with the usual household chores in the morning, I prepare lunch for my 3 kids who are studying at a nearby school so that when they break, they can find it ready. In the afternoon, I take my goats to the grazing field until evening when I bring them back home. The happiest part of my day is the evening when I successfully account for the days work and realize that I have fulfilled all my deliverables.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
My husband was born in a family of twelve and eight of them are boys. All of them are grown ups with their families and they opt to stay on their father's land. After subdivision was done, each one of them received less than an eighth of an acre. This size could only accommodate our house and a small compound. There is no room for having a farm to cultivate crops and as a result, I am forced to buy everything that I could have otherwise planted on my farm had it been there. With no regular source of income, buying all the foodstuff is taking a toil on us and this sums up the biggest hardship that I have ever experienced.
